Re: BRAVIA KDL-40HX850

Your settings seems good.
Do you see mkv files when you browse on Sony Video menu?
Do you have only problem with mkv files ? could you play vob, avi or other video file ?
Do you enable subtitles on serviio console?

Re: BRAVIA KDL-40HX850

Assuming your tv is connected to your router as your PC is (ie. you have a network). On your tv remote press the HOME button so the tv menu appears on screen. Scroll left or right until you find the 'media' section and then scroll up or down to find 'Video'. If your pc and tv are networked then you'll see Serviio listed (yellow icon), select it then navigate the menus e.g folders, files and then hit play or enter on the file you want.

You'll then be streaming via serviio from your PC to your tv the media file.

This video shows you how on your tv:

Re: BRAVIA KDL-40HX850

Thank you for the reply.
I was able to stream my .mkv videos.
Facing one more issue. and that is with the SUBTITLES.
I am not able to see subtitles.
i made the following settings as in the image.
Moreover, the 'video file' name and the 'subtitle file'' name are the same.
But still i am facing the problem.

My TV also shows a error when i enabled the "burned in subtitles" option.
The error is - "Temporarily cannot access the server. Please try again later."

Kindly help.!

Re: BRAVIA KDL-40HX850

Does this file exist? Does it have the right access rights? Is it a valid srt file?

  Code:
G:/The Expendables series/The.Expendables.2/The.Expendables.2.2012.BluRay.720p.AC3.x264-CHD.srt

what if you type

  Code:
ffmpeg -i "G:/The Expendables series/The.Expendables.2/The.Expendables.2.2012.BluRay.720p.AC3.x264-CHD.srt"

(finf ffmpeg.exe in the lib folder of Serviio installation)

Re: BRAVIA KDL-40HX850

The command was "-i" this was to list the information about the file so you could then copy and paste it to here. It wasn't going to fix the file in anyway so the playback issue would still be a problem for you.

Looking at the information you've posted it appears to be detected by ffmpeg as a mp3. Obviously incorrectly but would explain why its having problems playing it.

Example contents from a SRT file
  Code:
1
00:01:19,560 --> 00:01:22,560
We will now make a short stop in what is called a kibbutz

2
00:01:24,160 --> 00:01:27,160
Be back in the bus in 15 minutes.
Enjoy your visit.

Have you opened the SRT file in notepad and double check it is a subtitle file ? As in your see readable txt or garbage indicating it is actually a mp3. How big is the file ? Right click on it, properties should display this info for you. SRT for a film will be 100-200k not megabytes.

Simple solution might be to get another version of the subtitle file ?

I want to know - Is this how we know the validness of a .srt file?

I played this movie also. Th movie plays well on my BRAVIA KDL-40HX850 but the subtitles are not being displayed in this movie also.!

Its one way of validating a SRT file, its proves how ffmpeg reads it. You can also check with notepad or similar apps...

So for this other move you have transcoding enabled ? subtitles on ? etc etc.... and you get no subtitles on your tv ? post the log for that file once selected to play.

Thank You Guys..! Issues resolved.! :D

Just tell me one more thing...
I also want to play my mp4 files on my BRAVIA KDL-40HX850.
Found a bit difficulty. The TV does not display the mp4 file. it displays the .mkv files but not the mp4 files.

Re: BRAVIA KDL-40HX850

The profile you have selected will display MP4 so you might want to double check the file extension. Also check the 'mediainfo' for the a sample file as they will play.

Re: BRAVIA KDL-40HX850

Got this one also resolved.
Another issue being faced is..
When i play movies on my TV, then they play well. The only problem is that they hang sometimes while playing.
Means it stops for a fraction of second again and again.
This is annoying.

Any suggestions.?

Thank You

Re: BRAVIA KDL-40HX850

I had the same issue.
I checked the option "Enable burned-in subtitles". I think that did the trick.
