Serviio and YouTube videos

I was reading some of the posts on how to stream YouTube videos from a pc running Serviio to my DLNA supporting TV and if my understanding is correct, I have to setup an RSS feed?

I'm just wondering if there is an easier way? If there is a single YouTube video that I find and want to watch on my TV, is there a way to enter that URL somewhere in Serviio to have it stream on the TV? I am on a Linux box.

Thank you

Re: Serviio and YouTube videos

No, you will have to use the feed function. But you can add it you a YouTube playlist and use the playlist feed to serve your favorite videos.

There is also ServiiTube Chrome extension to make it easier: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7162

Re: Serviio and YouTube videos

Thank you.

I thought I would just test YouTube streaming out, but I can't seem to get it to work. Here's what I did

1. Downloaded YouTube.groovy to the Serviio plugins folder
2. Added http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/stan ... time=today to online sources

I can see all of the videos on my TV, but when I try and run one of them, I get the message "unsupported file format". I've tried multiple files from the feed and they all come up with the same message.

I am using Ubuntu 13.04 with Cinnamon desktop.

Thank you

Re: Serviio and YouTube videos

All the youtube vevo videos now use a scrambled signature so they will not play with the Serviio plugin.
