Installed 1.3.1 and everything has stopped working

I do apologise if this has been asked before, but I have the children really upset because they can't watch TV since I installed the new (recommended) version 1.3.1 and nothing works. Console doesn't start, and comes up with an error message that the server doesn't appear to be working. I can't even find the serviio server in my services to start manually. During the installation (which I had to download several times, every time I did, an error message appeared telling me that the software might be incomplete or corrupted, until it finally downloaded with the correct credentials etc and installed) command prompt shut the server down, and I had an error message about a file not being able to be installed and subsequently - since I had the option- I ignored it and proceeded with the installation. Reboot and nothing works any more. Since I can't open serviio, I can't run a detailed log either, I think...

Edit: I have been running 1.3 before, if this is important.... I generally do the upgrades when your little messages tell me to...

Please help me fix this, I have a ton of work to do and need the kids out of my hair for a few hours... Thanks!

Right, I restarted the PC yet again (win 7) and now serviio will open and the TV sees/plays files, however, my machine is now SUPERSLOW and any movie will start for second or two, then stop, and keep looking for content. It will come up a fair while later with "please check server settings"... I will try to get the detailed log now that it's working.
