Error enabling transcoding

Hi,
I'm running Serviio version 1.3.1 on a WHS 2011/HP Proliant Microserver.
When I try to enable transcoding under "Advanced Options/Transcoding Options", I get an error "There was an error updating the transcoding info". After that happened, the Serviio server disappeared off all of the DLNA clients on the network (Panasonic Vierra & Dvico TViX). I tried removing the add-in and un-installing the Serviio program and re-installing both again but still cannot get Serviio to show itself on the network. Also, if I try to enable transcoding again after a fresh re-install, I get the same error message again.
If I disable the Serviio service and enable the WHS 2011 native DLNA server, it pops up on the network almost straight away. Disable that and enable Serviio again, and Serviio will not show itself on the network.

The WHS 2011 works OK but doesn't transcode and wont pass MKV files so Serviio was my preferred option.

Anyone offer any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Error enabling transcoding

The WHS add-in won't work properly with Serviio 1.3.1. You can either install Serviio and the Console on your WHS and use remote desktop, or install the console on your PC and point it to your WHS http://www.serviio.org/component/conten ... e?id=21#q2

Re: Error enabling transcoding

I normally access WHS through VNC Viewer, so can I just install the Console and Serviio on WHS and not bother installing the add-in?

Re: Error enabling transcoding

OK, I uninstalled the Serviio Add-In and accessed the Serviio Console directly from the WHS taskbar Serviio icon. Only thing I had to do was to reset the permissions for all the DLNA clients in the Render Profile section of the Status tab (strangely, all clients had been denied access). Checked on my PVR and Vierra TV and all OK now - many thanks for the info!
Do you know if there is to be an update to the plugin to make it work with 1.3.1? It's not a deal breaker if they don't as I access the WHS desktop through VNC Viewer and don't need to access the Serviio Console via remote PC's using the Launchpad anyway.

Thanks again - all is now right in my world again!!

Re: Error enabling transcoding

It doesn't look like, not any time soon at least as the developer of the add-in hasn't dont anything to it since Serviio 1.0. The source code is available so anyone could pick it up and get it working with 1.3.1 if they wanted.

You could maybe try the PHP WebUI if you are happy with setting up a web server.

Re: Error enabling transcoding

I'm actually pretty happy with it the way it is (now it works!). The only difference is that instead of accessing the Serviio console through WHS Launchpad, I access it through the WHS taskbar Serviio icon and as I said before, this is all done from my main PC running VLC Viewer to access the WHS desktop. I could go back to Serviio Vers 1.0 and have the Add-in work again but 1.3.1 seems to run better and it has a lot more built in rendering profiles.

Now if I could just get my DLNA clients to be able to fast forward through networked MKV files............ ;)
