PNGs and JPEGs

I'm using Serviio 1.3.1 with a Sony BDP-S590 Blu-ray player. For the most part, it works fine. But I'm having an issue with all PNG files, and certain JPEG files. Not a one of the PNG images will play full screen, although I do see the thumbnail just fine. When I select the image, or when the slideshow get's to such an image, it just 'loads' forever with the spinning circle in the upper right corner. I never actually get to see the image full screen.

I have a similar problem with certain JPEG images, though not all. And I can't find a commonality for the images that don't work. Some are high resolution (larger than 3000 x 2000), but some are just 1920 x 1080. All JPEGs work just fine coming off a thumb drive, they only fail coming from Serviio.

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: PNGs and JPEGs

First of all, you should be using the 2012 profile, right?

Now, the player seems to have ptroblems with transcoded images, not sure why. The PNG is always transcoded, and some of JPEG too (with chroma subsampling 444, eg as saved by Photoshop).

I'm thinking maybe the 2012 models support 444 subsampling without transcoding, try to remove this from the bdp2012 profile

  Code:
         <Image forceInheritance="true">
            <Matches container="jpeg" subsampling="YUV444" />
         </Image>

Re: PNGs and JPEGs

I was using the US profile, however switching to the 2012 profile made no difference. Fortunately, removing those lines did. The problem JPEGs now seem to work fine.

Still no luck with the PNG files, though.

Re: PNGs and JPEGs

Unfortunately, this issue has still not been resolved.

For starters, the 2012 profile still runs into JPEG's that won't work, even after editing that line. It also tries to play formats that don't work at all, including PNG and GIF images. These files trip up the slideshow feature and hang it indefinitely. I'd love to get those PNG and GIF images onto my TV, but If Serviio can't transcode such images to something the BDP-S570 can handle, then Serviio should simply skip such files and keep the slideshow moving.

Which brings up the other side of the issue. The 2012 profile leaves out more than half of my video files which work perfectly fine under the 2010 and 2011 profiles, so using the 2012 profile is not an option. (On a side note, it also displays some of the remaining video files that do work incorrectly. For example, a 4:3 video plays as 4:3 using the 2010 profile, but is incorrectly stretched to 16:9 using the 2012 profile.)

If there's anything that can be done to get all the image and video files working correctly under the one profile, I'd sure be grateful.
