Live iTunes Playlist in Serviio

Hi,

I finally managed to get playlists to work and appear in Serviio, the problem is they only work once and do not update as my itunes playlist updates.

So in iTunes I have a Podcast Playlist that lists all my Video Podcasts that are less than 10 minutes long. The playlist is automatically updated as Podcasts are removed and added.

I have exported this Playlist to Serviio and Serviio recognises it but the playlist does not update in Serviio. I have to export the Playlist everytime it is updated for Serviio to have an up to date Playlist.

Is there any way to get the Playlist in Serviio to be "real-time" to my iTunes Playlist?

Thanks...

Re: Live iTunes Playlist in Serviio

It should work by checking the last modified date of the playlist file.

Sorry what do you mean?

Do you mean I need to export the iTunes playlist every time there is an update to it for Serviio to pick up the changes?

I don't think so. Serviio will check for the last modified date of the playlist file and should detect it as a change and update its library.

try to enable detailed logging to see if that's happening.

I checked my exported Playlist from iTunes and the modified date does not change, it is static.

Is there a certain way I can export/import the iTunes Playlist to Serviio in order for it to be a real time iTunes Playlist?

Re: Live iTunes Playlist in Serviio

I don't think there is, when you 'Export' a playlist from iTunes, iTunes generates a static playlist file, which Serviio reads. When you make changes in iTunes, that playlist file is not updated, so Serviio will not see the changes.

The only way to make it work would be to directly talk to iTunes/read it's database, this could possibly be done with a groovy plugin (someone has done something similar in perl http://paperjammed.com/2011/03/01/expor ... nes-world/)

Thanks for the link.

I have read through the page, but I'm not really up on command line/coding etc. so it's not something I can follow or use.

I guess I'll have to continue to save an up to date iTunes Playlist into Serviio everytime I need it.
