TV episodes in DVD order?

When getting metadata from online sources, is there any way to make Serviio use the DVD order to get TV episode titles instead of the aired order? I just ripped a load of Seinfelds from DVD, got the files all correctly named by selecting DVD order in Filebot, only to find that Serviio is showing the wrong episode titles in the Series category because the aired order was different.

Failing that, what software are people using to create xml or nfo files for local metadata? I tried a few free ones a while back and they all seemed to have problems.

I use http://www.therenamer.com/ - its free. Once your episodes is nicely renamed to your likeling, Serviio can quickly recognize the episodes
Sony Bravia 2010 52NX803 - Sony PS3 - Xbox 360
Serviio running on QNAP NAS 639 Pro - 1.6 Intel Dual Core - 2GB RAM and QNAP NAS 121 - 2Ghz ARM Marvell - 1GB RAM
Console using ServiiDroid for Android, ServiiMetro and ServiiWP for Windows Phone and WebUI for iOS

Filebot doors a good job of renaming episodes (I tried The Renamer but found it somewhat prone to misidentifying the programme name), but it doesn't help with Serviio showing the wrong episode titles if the aired order is different from the DVD order.

Re: TV episodes in DVD order?

You might check http://www.thetvdb.com, and after choosing your show there's a link at the bottom of the list for reordering the list into DVD order. Use that list to view the DVD order and try using episode format listed. I'm not sure Serviio recognizes that format, but it's worth a shot. I've never tried it as I prefer air date.

For example, it shows for Star Trek Season 1 as "1x1.0 Where No Man Has Gone Before" for DVD order (the first episode on the DVD), and "1x1 The Man Trap" for the first episode by air date.

And I also use FileBot, as it has been by far the most reliable file naming tool I've tried.

Yes, I tried the 1x1.0 style filenames but Serviio still fetched the aired order. I guess I should reconcile myself to using .nfo files, at least unless/until the DVD order option is implemented in a future version of Serviio.

After my last response, I checked the FileBot forums. I hadn't paid attention, but there is a menu option in FileBot that allows selecting Airdate, DVD or absolute order. You have to first load a video, then when you click the match button there is a Preferences option that has this selection. Might be worth a try.

I've done this; the filenames are correct. Serviio ignores the episode titles in the filenames and instead uses the episode numbers in the filenames to fetch the episode titles in airdate order from the TVDB.
