VLC as default player in mediabrowser?

Hi, is there any chance to use the VLC player as the default player while using the mediabrowser?

It's bringing me a very much better picture than the WMP does...

Thanks in advance!

You are asking to make an apple pie out of oranges. Mediabrowser is just the web player. VLC would be using the DLNA, same as WMP. On a side note, how the *** did you get VLC/WMP to browse the DLNA content?!?! Are you pulling RSS feeds or some other way of getting it other than DLNA?

Yes, you are true :)

You can browse the DLNA content with VLC, when you click on View → Playlist and scroll down to Local Network. Locate Universal Plug and Play and click on it. (If that's what you mean - my english is not the very best ;) )

Re: VLC as default player in mediabrowser?

By the way, the first question was my "mistake".

I am new to Serviio and I really like the mediabrowser as we have several computers and my girlfriend does not have any clue about them, but wants to watch movies - so the mediabrowser is the easiest solution for her.
But I didn't realise that all files are converted to Flash files while watching, so the quality is not as good as watching the movie with an external player.

I thought it is using the original file playing it with a browser plugin...

Re: VLC as default player in mediabrowser?

I'll have to revisit VLC again! What version are you using? What OS is the player on? What OS is serviio installed on? I hear you tho, my kids and wife, I just set the serviio Mediabrowser page as their home page, so whenever they open up FF BOOM, media goodness at their fingertips. If you are having playback issues, I would upgrade flash on the playing machine, and then check what version of java you have on the serviio server. I found I had a WAY old version, and it gave me many playback problems (my xbox didn't see some of the content either). After upgrading on the serviio server, things play back like a champ. Some other areas you might want to check, is your WIFI and any other network traffic. How about a DLNA player? Have you tried on an xbox, mobile device or a boxtop player? I would try and isolate the playback problems. Also, if you could upload a detailed log, that might help as well with any playback related issues.

Finally, a last area you can investigate with playback problems would be to check the profiles. Perhaps the device is using the wrong profile? Perhaps the playback device can't play HD content very well. For example, I have an EeePC that I am working on a profile for, to make the playback VERY basic. Trying to get as much transcoding on the server as possible, even with the MediaBrowser (been trying to get WMP and VLC working on that machine as playback is horrible at best. Just with that one tho, the rest of the devices in my house see, and play the content beautifully!)

GL! HTHs!

VLC 2.0 (as 2.1 was crashing when I tried to access the DLNA content), I only have Windows 8.1 on all machines at home.

Yes, I do have a WD TV Live, a Sony BluRay Player and a DLNA player on my Samsung Galaxy S3 and everything is working fine :)

I am in the office at the moment and will have another try when I am home again...

Re: VLC as default player in mediabrowser?

I'll give 2.0 a shot. =]

I know that the WDHDTV works fine accessing the DLNA content. If it plays great on the WDTV I would look at the profile that the box with the playback issues. Turn up logging, and I would look specifically at that IP/hostname. I have test folders setup, and I would even kill all other content, except for the test folder (*.avi *.mpg *.mp4 ect ect ect) to find out what plays better than others. Good luck!!
