Sony Bravia KDL-60R520A

Hello,

I purchased a new Sony TV and found the homestream application and after a little digging around, I decided to download the full version of Serviio.

I have configured my TV and can view all MKV's converted using the Bravia 2012 profile however I know that this is a new 2013 model and I tried the new profile listed here (viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11147)

I added my model to the friendly name section |(KDL-\d{2}R[5]\d{2}A.*) however I am only able to see certain file formats. Here is a link to the supported file formats for my TV series, did I miss something in the profile?

https://docs.sony.com/release/KDL-R520A_R550A.pdf

I also noticed that in the renderer profile the device name is only showing as "BRAVIA" it does not give the model number is there any way to make sure that the TV is passing the right model (friendly name) to serviio.

Any help would be great
Thanks

With Bravia 2012 profile, MKV files are transcoded...

Could you provide format supported by your device with th INTEL Spy tool ? (see signature links)

With same INTEL Spy tool, could you provide the device description xml (right click on device) ?

Thanks

EDIT: According to the pdf specification, KDL-70R550A / 70R520A / 60R550A / 60R520A / 50R550A use same DLNA feature than 2012 models (not 2013):
MKV are not supported in native format over DLNA (only USB)
Files from a network device need to be in the
following formats:
– Still images: JPEG
– Music: MP3, linear PCM, WMA
– Video: AVCHD, MPEG2, MPE

I'm waiting device Spy result to confirm.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-60R520A

Thanks for the prompt response, I understood that the 2012 transcoded. I saw that the TV was a 2013 model and saw USB supported MKV, I didn't look for DLNA over network support. It looks like all is working fine and I have to use the 2012 profile for the TV. Device Spy info below.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-60R520A

Thanks.

So Bravia 2013 R series seems to be compatible with the "Sony Bravia 2012 profile", we will update this profile to include this new series KDL-70R550A / 70R520A / 60R550A / 60R520A / 50R550A.
btw: Its strange, because "BRAVIA" disappears in the <friendlyName>KDL-60R520A</friendlyName> element. ( for example : <friendlyName>BRAVIA KDL-46CX520</friendlyName> )

On "Sony Bravia 2012" section in profiles.xml file, update the line with :

<UPnPSearch>
<FriendlyName>(BRAVIA KDL-\d{2}[A-Z]X\d5(\d|G).*)|(KDL-\d{2}R5\d{2}A.*)</FriendlyName>
</UPnPSearch>

Then save file, clear the device list in serviio console, restart serviio services or reboot the PC, then serviio should now automatically select 2012 profile for your model.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-60R520A

I look at "<modelDescription>IPI Media Renderer</modelDescription>" on web...

It seems these Sony devices use new IPI SDK (IP infusion) from Access Company (http://gl.access-company.com/) or NetFront™ Browser...

What does this mean for me? Does the mean I could see future firmware updates to support native MKV? Does this mean that Sony might be releasing their own version of Serviio using the IPI Media Renderer?
As far as I know you don't work for Sony but what would you best guess be.

Once again thank you for your help.

- I don't work for Sony.
- I'm not Sony addicted, but I purchased few years ago, a Sony TV and Sony players devices, then I discovered Serviio and I helped to create specific Sony profiles, now I follow the Sony topics...
- I work in hardware/firmware development in TV applications (Contribution/Distribution domain).

So, I simply try to understand what are behind the Sony device "blackbox" and I notice the new element "IPI Media Renderer" on your device and I make some search and I share it...
Its very hard to have informations about exact format supported, but since last year, Sony has made some progress...
But your device is different than 2013 W6/8/9 and X9 series, why ?

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-60R520A

Illico,

I have made the changes to the profile and restarted the service, and the TV is now being recognized correctly.

I am currently using Serviio 1.3.1 for Mac. I am noticing that when I play a file that is not supported natively and has to be transcoded, when the file is being played (transcoded) and I PAUSE, FF, RW the video freezes and sits on a still image.

Is manipulation of transcoded media supported with my configuration, what am I missing?

Thanks
Cody.

When you PAUSE, then FF, you have to be sure that the all file was transcoded still the end in the temporary folder.
But you should PAUSE, then RW without issue from beginning.
