Which Blu Ray players work well with Serviio?

I'm trying to find a Blue Ray player that I can use with Serviio, and it's not easy to find out.

Might depend on your intended streaming purposes. I use a Sony BDP-S3100 with very good results. It plays MKV and M2TS HD videos without transcoding, will pass Dolby TrueHD bitstream to my receiver, and can select different audio and subtitle tracks. It seems to have enough power to handle some extremely high bitrate BluRay rips, although I have a couple that will trip it. It will also continue with the next video in the list when one ends. The S3100 doesn't support 3D, but the next model up does, and should be identical with Serviio.

I've had a Panasonic -220 BD player, and did not like the user interface near as well, and I don't think it handled very many formats without transcoding. Since that player is now close to two years old, it may not be representative of the latest players.

One list thing to keep in mind. If you want to stream from the Internet, not every player supports every site. If you want Netflix, they pretty much all have that. If you want Amazon Instant Video, the list gets smaller. CinemaNow? Not on the Sony boxes. Just be aware of your desired use. Although it was required for me to get something that worked with Amazon, in reality my wife uses my Serviio server almost exclusively. As do I.

Thanks. I wanted to get one for my sister, and at first she got an LG model that would only get Netflix and Vudu, and was not DLNA certified.
Next we tried a Samsung model. It was certified so I thought it would work. It had Hulu+ and YouTube and others. I installed Serviio on her Mac Powerbook, and it recognized the Blu Ray player in Serviio Console, but the player did not recognize Serviio. No extra icon popped up, like it does on my Sony Media Player. It claimed to be able to play files from a drive on a PC, and I assumed that meant I could use Serviio, but the manual referred to some software that I could download from them to work on a Windows PC only. I took that model back as well.

Both my Samsungs work fine with it...

Yeah, if has DLNA certification, it should work with Serviio just fine. There's a possibility that the selected profile was wrong for the player, and that would make it not work correctly. I was tinkering with some profiles once and after a change I made, Serviio was no longer visible. I removed the change and it was there again. Might try a different profile.

If you decide to try the Sony S3100, try the BDP-Sx90 profile. That has worked best for me.

Are there any special issues running Serviio from a Mac?

What happens when it connects? Does an icon appear? I didn't see any choice for viewing things on a network.

What about LG Blu Ray players?

I'm afraid I'm a Windows home, so can't offer any feedback on Mac use. Someone else here can probably help.
