Samsung F-series and Linux ffmpeg not found by serviio

Hi!
I must say, i love Serviio because now I do not need to have any third party device between computer and Tv to stream content over wifi.
However, I am a linux lover and have experienced some issues. First of all I have Samsung UE46F5505 (I know thumbnails and rewind/forward does not work at the moment for F-series).

This is from the serviio log file:
ERROR [MediaServer] FFMPEG not found. Serviio will not work properly.

I have followed ALL provided guides in wiki and even on forum, I also read source code of FFMpegWrapper trying to figure out the problem. I have ffmpeg installed, however it says deprecated in Ubuntu 13.10: "*** THIS PROGRAM IS DEPRECATED ***
This program is only provided for compatibility and will be removed in a future release. Please use avconv instead." and my binary source is /usr/bin/ffmpeg, which I also tried with the -Dffmpeg.location /usr/bin/ffmpeg, no difference.

When I am trying to play video file on the TV, it says as expected cannot play this file, or it goes back to main menu. One kind of workaround was to disable and then enable transcoding while TV access serviio, then it worked anyway somehow. It seems like latest Ubuntu broke something and make ffmpeg incompatible with serviio. I also tried to compile ffmpeg myself, but ffmpeg in current state is however broken at videolan and ffmpeg git repository ....

Could someone provide me some tip, how to fix this temporarly until this possible going to be fixed in 1.4.0, together with thumbnailsupport etc for F-series of Samsung?

Re: Samsung F-series and Linux ffmpeg not found by serviio

I am having the exact problem on a new Lubuntu 13.10 box ... the TV sees the server, but no libraries show up ... when I reboot the machine, all the online and local libraries disappear... running 1.3.1

I do a FFMPEG -version and this is what I get:

ffmpeg version 0.8.9-6:0.8.9-0ubuntu0.13.10.1, Copyright (c) 2000-2013 the Libav developers
built on Nov 9 2013 19:15:22 with gcc 4.8.1
*** THIS PROGRAM IS DEPRECATED ***
This program is only provided for compatibility and will be removed in a future release. Please use avconv instead.
ffmpeg 0.8.9-6:0.8.9-0ubuntu0.13.10.1
libavutil 51. 22. 1 / 51. 22. 1
libavcodec 53. 35. 0 / 53. 35. 0
libavformat 53. 21. 1 / 53. 21. 1
libavdevice 53. 2. 0 / 53. 2. 0
libavfilter 2. 15. 0 / 2. 15. 0
libswscale 2. 1. 0 / 2. 1. 0
libpostproc 52. 0. 0 / 52. 0. 0

Is there an easy fix for this ??

Thx for the great program (which is running just fine under Windows 8)

Thank you for the reply --

Yes - actually spent quite some time trying to puzzle this one out ...even tried going through a recompile of the FFMPEG ..

no luck, so my solution was to install an earlier version which is working fine with the version of FFMPEG which I posted..

I am running the 'lite' version of Ubuntu (Lubuntu) -LXDE on an HP laptop via a wireless connection, but it is now working fine, so I am, once more, in your debt for such a splendid package, once all the parts mesh properly...

no tip, just info that i use fedora 19 without problems, installed ffmpeg using yum, latest version available in that moment, before 7-8 months... later updated only serviio to 1.3.1
