Serviio 1.4: Library refresh

Hello,

I have recently upgraded from version 1.3.1 to version 1.4. Unfortunately the library stopt refreshing after this upgrade. Also after a forced refresh via the console or a reboot I still see old (removed) movies and the newly placed movies are not visible. Old not removed movies I still could play back. After uninstalling and reinstalling Serviio I do not see and can not play back any movies. Also after reboot and forced refresh. I am running Serviio on a Windows 7 computer with plenty of free memory and try to access the movies on Samsung TV's. Any idee?

Thanks, Marijn

Re: Serviio 1.4: Library refresh

After some patience I saw under Serviio console, Show Status (library) a new title. Went to the TV and saw that all titles were available. At Show Status the buttons are red by check for new files and check for updates. Also when I click the force refresh button. Is that normal and should that be green at some point?

Re: Serviio 1.4: Library refresh

They should go green after pressing Force Refresh, but they may only be green for a short time depending on your library size. Green means "in the process of checking for updates/new files", red effectively means finished checking.

You can also confirm the library is being refreshed by looking at your log file (or detailed log file if you want to see the details).

Re: Serviio 1.4: Library refresh

I have the same issue with 1.4. Forced or auto timed refreshes do not always add the new files to the library and are not visible on my 360. Files I added yesterday aee only visible today after I rebooted. I refreshed last night about a dozen times and restarted serviio. Going back to 1.3 for now.

There should not be any changes in this regard between 1.3 and 1.4. The new version will rescan all your files, though, so it might take a few hours initially to find any new files.

Re: Serviio 1.4: Library refresh

I am also having a refresh Issue since Updating to v1.4.... NOTHING that I have added new since the update into my Folders is showing up in my Library...

I have an extensive collection spread over various drives, but my Computer is on 24/7... and these files have been waiting to be indexed for many days now...

The Force Refresh button shows green... and has been showing constantly green also for many days!

Any Advice????

Thanks,
CS

Enable detailed logging and see if it invokes searching for new files.

Re: Serviio 1.4: Library refresh

Ok... more Info ....

like I said in my earlier post, I have an EXTENSIVE collection spread over various drives. Serviio IS indexing the original Download location when the File First appears... but when I moved the File to another drive location, The Indexing is not updated for the new drive location???

Basically it looks like the whole Drive is not being refreshed! This was NOT an issue with v1.3.. and only started with v1.4 !!!
I haven't Checked all My other drives, as all new Files are Downloaded to one drive, and these days I mostly move the ones that are of a certain genre to one other!!!
I tried to Move ONE of those files back to that Original Drive/Folder... and Then It showed up in my Library!

Is there any limit to Number of Files or Drives that can be in the Library???

Also... When I check the "Show Status" button.... I continually see the "checking for New Files" indicator is GREEN, and then it shows a Number and what i assume is the last file indexed... But this Number never seems to change after the index.. even though additional files have been added... It is definitely NOT doing an Index refresh every 5 minutes as it is currently set for!!!

I tried to Force an Index on a Newly added specific Directory, using the add local Button.... But After a reboot I found that this Folder was not listed in the Library and no longer showing as a Separate Folder in the Shared Folder list....

This whole thing has made me leery of trying to delete a Drive and then Re-adding it as a way to Force an Index!

Is there any Product Update with a fix planned soon???

Also, I'm pretty much a Driver, not a mechanic, so Trying to "Enable detailed logging and see if it invokes searching for new files" seems like a daunting task and I'm unsure about the exact steps to take to start this.... Plus I'm worried about the creation of large Log Files on my O/S drive as that drive is very small (80GB) and I have had Experiences with Both Plex an Nero servers creating HUGE logs that Fill too much of the drive... But because I rely on Serviio as my preferred server, I had no problem with deleting those logs and maybe losing functionality with those programs.... I just worry about not screwing something up with the Serviio instal!!

I know... I'm the Paranoid type.. Not a Geek :(
Thank you,
CS

Could it be access rights on the new drive? As I said, this should all work as before.

Sorry... There are NO 'NEW" drives in the Library for Indexing!!!

Only Newly Downloaded Files/Folders... That I move from the Download drive onto another previously indexed drive... That Drive/Folder was Always part of the previous existing Index in v1.3.

Like I have Said.... The Refresh Index is NOT Refreshing all the drives that it has Indexed Before! ... It seems to Be Restricting it's Refresh to just One drive... and not Following the Move to Refresh the other "Already" Indexed drive... So the Library on that drive is Now out of Date...

The Only thing I tried "New" was to try and Force an Index on One Folder in that drive that had already been indexed, but that was now NOT being Included in the refresh... This New Folder has been sitting in the Indexed Master Folder now for about 2 weeks.... Without Being indexed!!! So I tried to index this Sub/Folder separately.... and that Didn't happen at all!

Also, Other files added to Other Sub-folders in this already Indexed drive are also Not being added to the library when refreshed!!

To Be Explicit.... The Folder not being Refreshed is my "TV" folder on Data Drive "H" ..... The Complete Series "The Sopranos" Was downloaded to Drive "G".... then moved to TV Folder on "H"....
It has still not been indexed to be included in my TV Library.... Thinking it may be because it was an unrecognized file type, I moved ONE File back to my Download Folder in "G" and it was then indexed and included in my Library for "G".... I have 5 Drives that are included in my Library... Currently most Folder/File movement is between G and H.... I have not confirmed this behavior on my other drives as I have not downloaded anything recently to be Filed on them!

This screenshot was taken this morning.... The Status it show has not Changed in the last 12 Hours!!!!! It is like the Refresh service has Stalled or Jammed!!!
Image

If I do a Complete Uninstall of the program and Then reinstall Will this help>>> Or do I need to Uninstall any Database index Files from App Data on "C" ????

I loved this Serviio Server.... Previously I have tried Plex and Nero MediaHome... I Much prefer Serviio... I just want it to Work!!

Thanks,
CS

Re: Serviio 1.4: Library refresh

I too have had the same problem recently since upgrading to 1.4. The index seems to have got broken in someway.
I was using the PS3 to stream videos and it used to work fine. I upgraded to 1.4 and it worked for a little while, then it suddenly reduced my library considerably to one file per tv show and then while I was trying to fix things it lost everything in the library. I have recently updated java to 7 update 51, but it stopped working before this update so that's not the issue.
I completely uninstalled serviio and tried a reinstall of 1.3.1 after cleaning the registry etc. This didn't solve anything.
I completely removed all evidence of serviio a couple of days ago.
I reinstalled 1.4 today after completely removing serviio and the library will now only index D:\videos and one subfolder (cricket) underneath videos, not all of them ( i have 3 - cricket, movies and tv_shows).
Not sure what's going on but it's frustrating as i really want to be able to watch my shows on the tv again via the PS3. It was working OK so I guess there's the possibility it could be to do with the PS3.
Something certainly seems to have broken between 1.3.1 and 1.4. Any fixes or suggestions would be appreciated. Windows 7 Home premium x64 12gb ram and plenty of drive space.
Cheers,
Sian

edit: after reading this post forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12663 and applying the "Everyone" security change on my tv_shows folder it now seems as though 1.4 is indexing them. i'm not sure what happened in order for it to spit the dummy but at least it is now fixing itself. Somehow the permissions must have changed and therefore lost the ability to be indexed by serviio.

Re: Serviio 1.4: Library refresh

I am still having the same Problem, BUT I have discovered a Work-around...
I hope that there will be a fix later, but for NOW...

On the Library Tab, I UNCHECK "Scan for File additions and Updates" on ALL drives, except the drive I want updated.... "SAVE" the Change... It won't work if not Saved!
Then click "Force Refresh"... That drive/folder is then refreshed.... It seems that V1.4 has a problem indexing More than ONE drive at a time!

I'll be watching for a fix...

Thanks,
CS

Re: Serviio 1.4: Library refresh

Ideally I'd need a detailed log of starting serviio up to the point when it get's stuck and doesn't move to the other drives.
