2 image issues with Sony BDP-S5100

I just got the S5100 3D/BD/DVD Player and discovered Serviio and I absolutely love it. I have 2 issues with images I can't find an answer to though.

One is when viewing images from my local hard drive, they are sometimes displayed sideways, turned to the right, even though the original orientation is correct. I've turned them back to the left in Options while they play, but it doesn't seem to hold, the next time they are displayed they are once again on their side. Is there a way to avoid this or at least once you've corrected the orientation for it to always play right side up? AutomaticImageRotation is set to false in the profile.xml file in all places (maybe that's the wrong file to edit?).

And the other about images is that often the player will lock up from an image and the only way to clear it is to pull the plug. I tried changing the setting that limits the resolution I found from another thread (<LimitImageResolution>false</LimitImageResolution>), but when I do that, the images are displayed in extremely poor quality and very pixelated. I also tried increasing the AllowedImageResolution large size from 4096 to 5504 since I suspect the few that are over the 4096 size were the ones locking up, and I get the same poor quality images, except for the ones that are sideways... those still show in perfect clarity as they should.

Between those changes to the profile.xml file, I stopped the server and gave it some time and then restarted it.

But so far I'm loving both this BD player and what it can do coupled with Serviio. Thanks for any suggestions to fix these issues.

Re: 2 image issues with Sony BDP-S5100

I found a solution to the sideways images in case it helps anyone else with this issue.

Even when you edit your profile.xml file to read <AutomaticImageRotation>false</AutomaticImageRotation>, Serviio will still rotate some images back to what the original camera shot was.

Download a free metadata editor such as PhotoME (this one works great for me, pretty easy to use as well). When you open the image that rotates on your TV with Serviio, under the Image section go down to "Orientation of image", click on the Content column (it will probably say something like "90° CCW (right/top)"), and change it to read "0° (top/left)", save file, and you're done. The image should now always display the proper orientation on your TV.

Serviio doesn't rotate images all the time even between those set to 90° in the EXIF info, so I haven't pinned what causes it on some photos but not others with the same orientation setting. But at least I found a way to easily stop it now.

You have to restart serviio services (not server) or reboot PC, to reload the profiles.xml file .

This issue has been on-going since I installed Serviio months ago. Trust me, the service has been restarted many many times since then including all the computer reboots to restart it. The profiles.xml file keeps the change, but the images still get rotated on some files.
