Can't play some movies

Hello,
I have some problems playing some movies on my new TV. It's a Philips 32PFL4508T.
Some movies work and some don't.
The server I use (with serviio on) is a Ubuntu-server 12.04.

If I use my Phone (S3) and your ServiiGo, I can play all movies.
But with UPnPlay, I can't play most of the movies. I tested with an old avi, then it asked me what renderer to choose, Android or a laptop that was on, in the network (not the server with serviio installed).

I must confess, I don't 100% sure I understand DLNA correct, does the server (Serviio) do all the decoding and only sends out a "copy" of the "screen"? Or does the TV/phone or whatever do some decoding of the movie as well? :?:

If I type: ffmpeg -i <your_file_location> For a movie that don't work on the TV or UPnPlay (but works with ServiiGo on my S3) I get this:

Re: Can't play some movies

do you have profile enabled (chosen) for your tv in serviio console, do you gave Transcoding on?

as for dlna question, yes pc does all the work, and send rendered stream to your device, most devices are ok with GENERAL profile, and some need specific transcoding profile to be chosen.

as for subs, have no idea, could never make them work myself, but i never cared of them too.

Re: Can't play some movies

Thanks for your help, accelleratii.

But I must cunfess that I don't fully understand you.

"do you have profile enabled (chosen) for your tv in serviio console, do you gave Transcoding on?"
Where do I see this? In the consol (Status tab) I can see the TVs IP, and it's green. But it can't understand the TVs name (which windows media player can). Is it here you mean that I should "give it Transcoding on"? How do I do that? And how do I enable the TV here, I can only have "Device allowed"?
I have transcoding on in tab "Delivery". Is it that you mean?

You also say that I can change transcoding profile, how do I do that?
Is it the Transcoded files location? I thought that was only a temp-folder during transcoding.

Thanks again for the help.

yes, just keep it enabled

and here are the profiles:

when you choose correct profile (your TV model)
and have the Transcoding enabled, it should play the files on your tv
