Re: Why is this being transcoded?

So, I remuxed several BD rips to the TS container. Where the video was choppy when in the MKV container, they play perfectly from TS. I am having a strange occurrence. After a certain amount of time, the movie freezes. If I hit stop and then play again, the movie resumes where it left off. I am suspicious of it hitting the next chapter and stopping. It always stops at the same place. I'll look at MediaInfo when I get home today to see if there's a chapter at the same location. If that's it, I'll try the remuxing again to see if I can remove the chapters. I don't use them, and I don't think the Sony works with them anyway.

Again, any ideas of a program I can use to mux from MKV to TS that will recognize FLAC audio? TSMuxer does not, so it changes the audio to AC-3. That means I've lost the lossless audio stream. Perhaps something that will rip straight to TS? MakeMKV works so well, I'd hate to switch, but if something else will save me the double steps I'll give it a try.

You can have a look to AVANTI is a GUI that use ffmpeg, but don't know if FLAC audio can be remuxed (copy).

Gave it a try. Man, it's slow! I could select FLAC as the output, but how it was performing the mux, I don't know. Should have looked at the command string, but didn't think of it. I had to leave it running overnight, so I haven't tried playing the finished file yet.

Re: Why is this being transcoded?

All in all, this profile seems to do the trick for the vast majority of my videos. I have only encountered one strangeness. I have a few Blu-ray rips that are "difficult". I either had trouble ripping them successfully, or they just cause trouble on playback. Basically the six Star Wars discs, the first six Star Trek movies (don't have any BDs newer than that) and Season One of Star Trek (original series). Virtually everything else has ripped and plays fine, with the exception of the Dolby TrueHD we discussed earlier. Is it possible for Serviio to take these TrueHD videos and leave the video alone and only change the audio to AC-3? I already know that I can rip them now with FLAC audio and I'm fine, but I'd rather not re-rip them if possible.

Other than that, this is probably ready to submit to Zip for inclusion. My guess is it would be the same for the BDP-S5100 as well as my S3300. I see on the Sony web site that my S3300 is now an S3200. I wonder what was changed... Looks like the supported video codecs are about the same, but I don't know for sure.

Re: Why is this being transcoded?

OK, I redid a rip the other day, using FLAC as the audio. The movie loads and plays, but no audio. The Sony display has no audio listed, and my Yamaha shows no audio stream being sent. I've been playing with so many options, maybe I just clicked something wrong. I'll give one another go this evening. Le sigh...
