Yes, for exampe with hbo_trailer_dtc.zip, the average bitrate is 9828kbps, the peak is 38718kbps with many frame section over 20Mbps. Indeed the TV becomes unresponsive to remote commands...

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

Hello all,

I have Sony Bravia EX505.
I have recently started playing HD content (until now only DVDRIPs with great satisfaction using serviio).
The file is mkv.
Attached in the information presented in mkvmerge.

Couple of questions:
1) I have not been able to see the subtitles that supposed to be in the mkv file.
2) I have a sound/audio problems when playing the movie. The video seem to be working just fine.
3) I have tried to "add" a subtitle (srt file) which seem to be working ok when I play in a regular player on my PC. however, in the TV I can't see the subtitle.

* using the sony bravia profile in Serviio 0.4.2 .

Appreciate your assistance in helping me get the benefits of HD.

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

I've got a Bravia 503 wired to my BT Home Hub and have Serviio on my Macbook Pro connected wirelessy.

However I can't pick it serviio up at all. I don't have a firewall on my laptop and have been assigning IP addresses etc etc to no avail. Twonky pops up but no other servers software.

Any advice?

1) MKV file are not supported in native format by Sony Bravia EX, so Serviio will transcode in MPEG2TS, nevertheless all subtitles will be lost with transcoding.
2) Its probably due to audio bitrate issue: https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/i ... bitrate-to
3) Sony Bravia EX does not support subtitle srt file, must be "burn" in the video stream (not supported by Serviio/FFmpeg for the moment)

Thanks for the prompt answer Illico:
1) Ok understood.
2) I saw the ticket but haven't understood if the fix is going to be included in 0.5 or not ? BTW, when is it due ?
3) I will appreciate you help of how to "burn" it without losing the quality. I know AVIDEMUX and VirtualDub but don't know what is the right setting/configuration for all the codecs and stuff.

Thanks.

Seen as the TV becomes unresponsive when the bitrate goes above 20mbs, is there a program that will bring the bitrate down to a lower level?

You can force to transcode video in mpeg2 with maxVBitrate option

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, H

Hi,
On PS3 Media Server forum some users found how to set the right AR without artefacts with mencoder option.

smlange wrote:I think I got it now.
In 'Custom options', type
  Code:
-vf expand=::::1:16/9,dsize=4/3

It's important that the 'dsize' filter is AFTER the 'expand' filter!
Also, while playing a movie, go to Settings -> Display -> Screen -> on your Bravia TV and change 'Display Area' to '+1'. Otherwise, not all of the picture is shown.

ExSport wrote:Try
  Code:
-vf softskip,expand=......

to add softskip before expand. It should fix artefacts.

brotherjohn wrote:Thanks to both of you, smlange and ExSport. Now everything looks fine...the right AR and NO artefacts :D
Solved with this entry in PMS.conf (Windows):
  Code:
mencoder_decode = -vf softskip,expand=::::1:16\/9,dsize=4\/3

Probably we could find same options with ffmpeg?

Sorry if this has already been answered. Is there a functional DLNA difference between the EX, HX and the NX? I'm seeing some similar issues on my NX810 and would like to jump into this thread.

Cheers,
Zek

I'm tried with the serviio 0.5 now and I have not been able to see the subtitles.
Thanks.

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series

I have Sony EX710 but more often than not my video stream is stuttering, i.e. got jumps between frames, delayed sound, etc., especially when playing MKV files. I am using a generic Bravia profile. What could cause this problem? I have tried using Wild Media server and played the same file without any problems. I guess it has something to do with Bravia's profile.

---

Trying to play with maxVBitrate="15360" settings. Will report results.
