Automatic transliteration for some clients

A good half of my media collection is labeled/named/described in Cyrillics (Ukrainian and Russian). I'm sure, a lot of other users use non-ISO-8859-1 characters too.

Unfortunately, some devices -- like my Integra receiver -- turn all such characters into question-marks

Could Serviio automatically transliterate text for such clients -- although I'd prefer to see the Cyrillics, seeing Latin-transliteration is better than trying to distinguish one string of question marks from another? I know, iconv library has the functionality. There's got to be something in Java as well...

The title of a Ukrainian band is "Воплі Відоплясова" (in Ukrainian Cyrillic). My two TVs (a Sony and an LG) show the Cyrillics just fine, but the receiver (by Integra) renders all Cyrillic characters as question marks: "????? ???????????".

For such devices there could be a special profiles.xml flag, that would cause Serviio to transliterate that string into "Vopli Vidoplyasova". Something like this, perhaps:

    <MenuCharset>ISO-8859-15</MenuCharset>
</MenuCharsets>

Then, when a string is found, that can not be converted from UTF-8 to any of the charsets supported by the device, Serviio could transliterate into the US-ASCII (or into the first of the charsets-listed)...

ICU4J should be able to handle the actual transliteration for just about anything...

My two TVs can render Cyrillics just fine... If the setting is not per profile, I'll be forced to choose between (ugly) translit on all and question marks on some devices.

I'd prefer it per device...
