problem with finding metadata for swedish tv series

This thread started by me having a problem with getting metadata downloaded from thetvdb.com for the on-going Swedish TV series "Jakten på Lyckan"

No way has been found for actually getting that metadata from thetvdb.com: various suggestions have been tried.

I did today go in again to see if I could make my understanding of the problem more structured.
So I logged in, and searched for the series. It couldn't be found, since my login had english as the preferred language, and the series in q was listed as "swedish".

Changing the series property to "english", I could find it properly.

Could this be a part of the problem?

I must confess I don't know the first thing about how serviio queries thetvdb.

(I know that's what you do, but what values will you use when searching for the series Jakten på Lyckan???

I turned on DEBUG, but I'll be damned if I can even see serviio trying to find anything on thetvdb.com for the Jakten på Lyckan series....

I can see it try to find an image in the file, but that's it.

I can see serviio deciding the file Midsomer.Murders.S01E01.avi warrants looking for Midsomer Murders, while the file Jakten.på.Lyckan.S01E02.mp4 warrants looking for Jakten.på.lyckan : Note that "." is edited to " " for Midsomer, but not for "Jakten..."

I looked into it. The series is not found because it's not translated into English (the default language). I'll fix the search to search through all translations. Then though, when it gets the episode details, it'll use your preferred language as selected in the console. If this is NOT Swedish you will not get any data, because the episodes will try to load in the preferred language and if not found in English (which also doesn't exist).

THAT seems a strange thing: a preferred language shouldn't be exclusive!

I keep series of various kinds in various languages, some of which are xlated to english in theTVdb, some which are not.

BTW, is this a quirk of theTVdb or of Serviio? I e is it the case that you MUST decide on a particular language for searching, or is there a "try any and all" possibility?
I e is there a language wildcard for searching theTVdb?

The series search works for all translations (and is now implemented for 0.5.1). To retrieve an episode information, though, you have to select a language and if that translation is not available it defaults to English. If even English is not available then you'll get empty fields.
