AT&T Uverse Setup

Just changed Internet Providers and now I can't get Serviio to work remotely. Everything works on the local network, but when I put in the "http://{IP Address}:{Port}/mediabrowser" it is never found. Is there an option on the 2wire router/modem that needs to be changed? I am running WHS 2011 with Serviio as a service and have been successful previously with the setup I have, Uverse just screwed it all up. Wish I could just use my old router instead of the fancy 2wire.

Also, I have set up the Port 23424 to forward to my server's ip address as a DNS server (I'm not sure that is the correct category to choose, so that may be my problem).

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Re: AT&T Uverse Setup

I have set up the Port 23424 to forward to my server's ip address as a DNS server
Not sure why you've done it as a DNS server (this normally forwards port 53???), but delete it and try:

  • Firstly ensure you are a Pro or Evaluation user. If not, forget it - remote access is not available (everything on the Remote tab in Serviio Console will be greyed out).
  • Easiest way - look for an option to Enable UPnP within the 2wire. If you find it enable it and save. Then in Serviio Console, Remote tab, and enable "Automatic configure your router" and test the connection (see below).
  • Harder way - If the above doesn't work, you need to forward port 23424 manually. For this refer to http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... ing/2wire/. Most routers allow you to port forward for a list of known services/application (eg. DNS, FTP, etc) or create your own service/application - you need to firstly create your own application (Serviio) and specify the port, rather than use one of the known ones. Once finished, test connection.
To test the connection:

  • Use the "Check Connectivity status" in Serviio console, Remote tab. A green tick is good, however often a red cross doesn't mean anything - go to the next step.
  • Go to http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and test port 23424. If open then
  • Try Mediabrowser from a remote location.

Re: AT&T Uverse Setup

how specifically did you forward the port.. I've tried and it will not take the settings (what range were you using?) if you can do a step by step it would be appreciated.. I never had this problem with my logitech router.. streaming or port forwarding
