Serviio 1.5 Not detecting new files

Serviio 1.5 is not detecting file changes over NTFS junction points. The previous version worked fine. Is it possible to roll back to a previous version without losing my database?

Try copy the library directory. It might be backwards compatible.

The database would have been updated so no you won't be able to copy the library folder.

Please can you post some specficics about your setup so that it can be reproduced and fixed. I guess none of the beta testers use junction points as this didn't come up during testing.

Re: Serviio 1.5 Not detecting new files

Several of the shared folders Serviio points to are Junction Points. I also have subfolders inside these folders that I have made Junction Points. I do this because I have multiple hard drives in my server and once a drive starts to fill up, I can reorganize where stuff is located without their location in the directory tree changing.

Also, since Serviio still does not allow us to rearrange the order of the Shared Folders, it allows me to move the content of an entire folder to another drive without having to remove that entry from shared folders and all entries below it and then re-add them just to keep them in the order I want them in.

If I hit the Force Refresh button, Serviio 1.5 will find the new files. Serviio 1.4 had no problems traversing Junction Points.

It looks like SymLinks work. I'm going to convert my Junction Points to SymLinks and post my findings here.

Re: Serviio 1.5 Not detecting new files

Converted the Junction Points to SymLinks. Now Serviio works, but I can no longer traverse the directory structure over the network because of the way SymLinks work. I'm going to have to go back to Junction Points.

Re: Serviio 1.5 Not detecting new files

So I'm trying to reproduce this.

- I've created a junction point d:\testjunction pointing to d:\test using the junction.exe program described here: http://daniele.livejournal.com/66210.html
- I added d:\testjunction to the console
- I copied an image to d:\test and the file was picked up by Serviio

So it seems to work, at least with a flat structure (didnt try junction inside junction) and local NTFS drives.

Do your junctions point to local drives or remote (network / USB) ?

Re: Serviio 1.5 Not detecting new files

Everything was on local drives. I have also noticed, when using junction points, that I cannot use Add local to browse to the junction point and add it to the shared folder list. I have to use Add path and put it in manually. When using Add local, Serviio doesn't recognize the junction points as folders.

I'm using Windows Server 2008 R2 by the way. All drives are local and formatted NTFS.

Re: Serviio 1.5 Not detecting new files

I had the same issue with the Add Local. That's Java for you.

Anyway, can you reproduce my setup above on your system and see if the changes are picked up? 1 folder + 1 file is enough.
