I think there is a reason for this not beeing a featured Serviio plugin.

Only because no one has posted it before.
Re: YouTube
Well, web sites have 'Terms of Service' and Serviio is a commercial product...

Re: YouTube
You didn't need the youtube-dl '--proxy' option to clear proxy inherited from Serviio?

Re: YouTube
live streams are not supported by this plugin.
Re: YouTube
Since youtube-dl (and youtube) is frequently updated, I added youtube-dl auto-update in the original post:
viewtopic.php?p=95454#p95454
The check for update is daily (or on service restart).

Re: YouTube
i just upgraded to serviio 1.5.1 from 1.4.1. I replaced the files in library and config.
There is problem with running youtube videos. The video would play like normal but after around 1 minutes I will get error on my TV saying unable to read data.
Anyone know what's the problem?

Re: YouTube
I've been playing around with this plugin, I have got an odd issue.
https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/use ... LQ/uploads ----- Does not Work (NukeNorway, in browser it (all) does work)
https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/use ... ay/uploads ----- Same as with ID also no go, same for http instead of https
https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/use ... Vg/uploads ----- Works fine (PrankVsPrank) but only showing 25 video's (serviio is set to 50)
https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/REACT/uploads ----- Works fine but only showing 25 video's
https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/use ... st/uploads ----- Works fine but only showing 25 video's
http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/play ... results=50 ----- Only showing 10 results
http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/vide ... esults=50& ----- Works fine
https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/use ... od/uploads ----- Works fine but only showing 25 video's
Using Serviio (win 7 ulti 64b) mainly on a Samsung D550, also reverted back to Serviio 1.4 due to the refresh bug or rather the not refresh bug.
So any idea why NukeNorway isn't working?

Re: YouTube
The ones that show 25, it's because in the feeds there are only 25 items.

Re: YouTube
The ones with 25 aren't an issue, it's enough but the one only displaying 10 results is an issue because that way you can't just let it play for a few hours or so which would have been nice to be able to do.
Should I do something different with the URL or is there a better way to get the most popular video's in the #Electronic Music category?
But the NukeNorway channel not showing up at all????

Further tested my issue...this is what I see from the log...you think this helps? Or should I use debug for logging?

Re: YouTube
Hi,
Please help me in what and how should I modify to make the plugin working again as before. Nothing appears under the Online folder on my devices which are connected to the server.
My guess is that it is not working now due to the API change which is v3 now and v2 is obsolate so not supported anymore, isn't it? Can I(/we?) expect a plugin update?
Thank You in advance!
UPDATE: It was not due to API v3, but a local issue with my router; which is solved now so forget the aboves. But API v3 will cause some problems in the near future as I think.

Re: YouTube
Hey Zip,
Can you confirm (I dunno if you are the author or not) that the plugin has been updated for Youtube v3?
As of April 20, 2015, Youtube is making the change thus making any and ALL API oriented coding obsolete. I got notification that my Sony BDP-BX58 Youtube client is going to be inoperable due to this change.
I dunno if you will see this but I will make a seperate post that grabs your attention.

Re: YouTube
Today on both Serviio and Plex if you try to view a new Youtube video you get a short video in it's place warning that this device is not supported.
Is this the YouTube 3.0 people above are talking about? Does this mean no more Youtube via Serviio or does it just mean the plugin needs to be recoded?

Re: YouTube
This plugin is not working anymore. A completely new plugin would have to be implemented. Will see if I get the time.

Re: YouTube
As of today I can still view You Tube videos via Serviio on my Sony Blu Ray BDP-S570. At some point, I believe in July, the current format for RSS feed links will expire.

Re: YouTube
Now an explicit webresource plugin for http://www.googleapis.com needs to be built that can handle the YouTube V 3 REST API.
I suggest that at least the GET 'playlistItems' API call is implemented. Playlist IDs are now used also for user uploads. It is a bit tricky to get this ID for user uploads though since it demands an extra API call. But it can be extracted by hand with the Google API Explorer for YouTube https://developers.google.com/apis-expl ... outube/v3/ with 'channels.list'.
The GET 'search' API call can also be implemented to query videos.

youtube-dl based version seems to work fine.
I updated it with audio-only option, see original post

Re: YouTube
YouTube Data API v 2 soon shut off
Retirement plan
In March 2014, we announced that the v2 API would be retired in April 20, 2015, and would be shut down soon thereafter. To help you with your migration, we launched the migration guide in September. Now, we’d like to provide you with more details on the plan to retire v2.
To make sure that you’ve migrated everything over before fully shutting off the v2 API, we’ll perform the first of what we call “blackout tests” for the v2 API in the coming weeks, where we’ll shut down the v2 API for a limited period of time. The blackout tests, which will take place on different days of the week and at varying times of day, are meant to help you better understand the impact the retirement will have on your applications and users.
Most of the v2 requests during the blackout window will be responded to with a HTTP 410 Gone. If you want to test your application’s reaction to this response, point it at eol.gdata.youtube.com instead of gdata.youtube.com.
How you can migrate
Check out the frequently asked questions and migration guide for the most up-to-date instructions on how to update specific features to use the new API. The guide now lists all of the v2 API functionality that is being deprecated and won't be offered in the v3 API. It also identifies a couple of features that we're migrating but still working on, like “captions” and “comments”. And, finally, it includes updated instructions for a few newly migrated features, like “browser-based uploading” and “language relevant search”.
