incomplete movie list

Is there a limit to the amount of movies serviio will display, though I have about 400 movies in my folder about 15% do not appear in the listings, if I search the 'movies' list those that are missing appear but all with the simple title of 'FILM' and not their original title in the movie folder.?

Re: incomplete movie list

If Serviio and the player think a video will not play, it is not displayed. Make sure you have the correct profile selected for your player. Serviio isn't perfect determining the right one. Not the fault of Serviio, some TVs and BD players don't identify themselves well, if at all.

To my knowledge there's no practical limitation on file count. I have almost 700 movies and over 1500 TV episodes and they are all listed.

Re: incomplete movie list

Sorry, I overlooked that part. :oops:

What is the naming format you are using? I have seen an occasional file not get named correctly and it might pick up some sort of metadata embedded in the video. Yours might just have "FILM" embedded as the title.

Re: incomplete movie list

Also, check the folder in which the FILM files are located for files that may contain metadata. May be hidden files - look for .nfo files or basically anything that isn't a media file and remove for now. Force refresh and update metadata.

All films are on a separate hard drive in computer with no other files in them. [its a mac so no .nfo except in the parrallels program which runs windows , again on another hard drive.] Have 4 hard drives.

Re: incomplete movie list

Use MediaInfo and see if there is an embedded title within the file as atc98092 suggested. A few other things to try:
  • turn on detailed logging so you can track what is happening. After restarting give it a while and then
  • move one of the offending folders to a new folder in your share (or start a new share);
  • see how it appears in the Movies category
  • move it back and confirm that it appears in the movies category.
then zip and post the log file and let's see what that tells us.

.nfo files are not Windows specific, although Windows does use that extension for something other than this purpose. Many media servers can use nfo files for metadata information, hence the question. :)

No nfo files found [except on Windows in parallels]
