Samsung TV B652T: Unsupported video

Hallo there,
one of my tv's can't play mkv video.

I use serviio pro 1.4.1.2 under Ubuntu 14.04.
For that tv i set profile "SAMSUNG TV B series", and for one file got "unsupported video".

I set logging level to DEBUG for "org.serviio", but i can't see any information about try to transcode that file when i try to play it. I want see ffmpeg command line options, but i don't know how to do that.

Can anyone help me?

Unless I missed it when I looked at that profile, your file isn't being transcoded. There is no MKV specific line that covers High@L4.1, and the wildcard line is for L4.2 and greater.

First, do you have any other files with the same video codec that do play? If so, there could be something wrong with the file. If you have no other High@L4.1 videos, then change the generic line

After changing that line, remember that you must either reboot the computer or restart the Serviio service. Just closing and opening the console does not do this, nor does the button on the console that says "Stop Server". This button only controls the DLNA server, not the background service.

I do what you say, and it do not help. Rio.mkv sill not play. It show "unsupported video".

Bad file, i can play on LG TV. If it corrupted, why it plaing on other tv?
I think, there need debug.

How i can check my profile? That file do not match rule for transcoding?

Sometimes one brand of player has no problem with a file, while another might. This could be why your LG TV can play it while the Samsung can't.

Since the log shows for certain the file is not being transcoded, then I must assume you didn't modify the profile as I mentioned above. No fault of yours, it can be difficult to get yourself to the right place in the profile.

If you are using a text editor that displays line number (such as Notepad ++), the line I'm looking at is #208. This is the very first profile after the initial Generic profile. On line 208, change the line as I mentioned above. The important part is the levelGreaterThan section. Just in case for some reason your line numbers don't match mine, you need the line that says "<Matches container="*" vCodec="h264" profile="high" levelGreaterThan="4.2" />". Change the 4.2 to 4.0.

Remember, the Serviio process must be stopped and restarted. The best way to do this is to reboot the computer. I've been away from Linux for so long I can't remember the easiest way to restart a background process, so a reboot makes sure it's done.

Try this, and then see if its still not transcoding.

The file has header compression (header stripping). Try removing it - you may then be able to play it natively. See http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=header_com

My (mid-level 2011 46" Smart) Samsung is having some difficulties as well w/ the .mkv, although it is able to locate, access, & playback that encoding via the HDD USB specific hub on the lower right side. (When facing the TV) As I purchased this TV 2nd Hand via Craigslist 16 months ago I did not receive any of the manuals/documentation upon purchase, but I did extensive research prior to purchase & this was actually the 1st time to try either HDD &/or .mkv since purchase. The "AllShare" software started up immed. upon insertion of a bus powered Seagate GoFlex 1TB HDD. custodiasamsung

Not all MKV's are created equally. Please post MediaInfo details for the file that is not playing. Does it play other types of video via Serviio (eg. MP4's. other MKV's?).
