Does either DLNA or Serviio support (or able to support), any type of file browser/viewer that you know of?
I suppose if you are limited to only the movie title, then yes, you would potentially end up with incomplete information.
I know when I press the Display button on the remote of my Sony BDP-S370, it displays a heap of information about the movie/title. Are you able to tap into any of this information at all?
Actually, thinking about it a bit more, the display via DLNA Renderer from the browsing view displays as follows:
MPEG VideoMovie
It does not display a full file name ie. with extension, only an indicator for file type ie. AVI, MPEG etc... at the front of the file (not part of the actual file name though.) Sorry if this is not clear. I will try to upload a jpg image of what I am trying to describe if that helps.
