Is it possible to display video duration/length somehow?

It would be good if we could have some explorer type capability or just view more details about a file in a summary view (Details equiv. perhaps)

eg. File Name Length
Video File.avi 01:35:00
Thanks.

Re: Is it possible to display video duration/length somehow?

Renderers:

Samsung TV PS63A750
Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S370

The display of extra details could be a simple as:

File Name Length (These labels don't have to be display at all, just the contents would do.)
VideoFile001.avi 01:30:45

The format of the data doesn't matter so much, only that the details are displayed:

Currently via DLNA the Sony displays the File Name and type only. Can this be expanded on (either via Serviio or DLNA/XML etc... to display the length/duration at all?

Opt. 1.
VideoFile002.avi
01:30:45

Opt. 2.
VideoFile002.avi 01:30:45

Any type of File Manager/Viewer capability within Serviio/DLNA would be good to be able to get more details about a video file.

The idea behind this request is to know how long a movie goes for when selecting from the list available before deciding to actually watch it.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.

If the renderer doesn't show it in the browsing view, it'd have to be a part of the movie title. It's doable but not sure if it's very helpful, especially for movies with long titles. I presume the renderer trims long titles already and you'd end up with incomplete information again.

Re: Is it possible to display video duration/length somehow?

Possibly zip but I'll confirm tonight and post my findings.

Does either DLNA or Serviio support (or able to support), any type of file browser/viewer that you know of?

I suppose if you are limited to only the movie title, then yes, you would potentially end up with incomplete information.

I know when I press the Display button on the remote of my Sony BDP-S370, it displays a heap of information about the movie/title. Are you able to tap into any of this information at all?

Actually, thinking about it a bit more, the display via DLNA Renderer from the browsing view displays as follows:

MPEG VideoMovie

It does not display a full file name ie. with extension, only an indicator for file type ie. AVI, MPEG etc... at the front of the file (not part of the actual file name though.) Sorry if this is not clear. I will try to upload a jpg image of what I am trying to describe if that helps.
Thanks.

Re: Is it possible to display video duration/length somehow?

All the information the renderer is displaying is provided by Serviio (title, duration, file size, file type, thumbnail, author, p;roducer, etc). How it's used is entirely up to the renderer. Most opt to ignore most of the information, some display it only when actually playing the video.

So what you're saying then zip is that it's more of a Sony firmware/design thing perhaps than a Serviio functionality thing?

I also found out more about when the movie title gets truncated. It's after 59 characters.

After checking further on the Renderer the display is as follows:

VideoFile001.avi
MPEG dd/m/yyyy
Thanks.
