Media Server Error: A network error has occurred. (00000000)

Hi I've seen a similar issue to this in the forums but from a Linux user and I'm wondering if I have the same symptoms however I'm not quite sure how to solve it.

I'm running Serviio 0.6.0.1 on Windows Homeserver 2011 and I'm trying to render on my PS3 however I am getting the following error...
"Media Server Error: A network error has occurred. (00000000)"

My .AVI files play fine but .MKV's return the error above (I guess it's related to the transcoding).

The following code is from my serviio log however I limited it to a small selection around which I thought I was getting the error as the full files is about 300k lines long. With any luck I got the bit that is of use.

Having read another post with a similar issue, the user was instructed to upgrade their ffmpeg but unfortunately I am struggling with this bit.

Can anyone advise...
Is the solution to my problem updating my ffmpeg?
Does anyone know any easy way of doing this for someone with no previous experience (e.g. an installer or a step by step guide)?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

If you look at the serviio.log file it will give information about your system. Please post that. We need to know your O/S. Also from a command prompt run ffmpeg.exe -i and post the information here.

we know what his OS is he told us? - WHS 2011

it look to me as if his temp folder is full and taht whats causing serviio to time out,

@spcurtis81

nope not a FFmpeg issue as your runnig windows ao you have one bundled with serviio.

check and empty your tempory (temp) folder as it appears to me to be full and thats whats making serviio time out. :)

Hi Moltra. Sorry, I'm having loads of trouble pasting my serviio log here. It's massive. Made what is probably a mistake of deleting it's contents and then trying to play an MKV on my PS3 again in order to create the same message but in a shorter log but the file has so many lines this page just freezes when I try to submit the post. I've checked through the log and can't see any info on OS but I can confirm that I'm running Windows Home Server 2011 64 bit and my Serviio version is 0.6.0.1.

I did however manage to get the ffmpeg info...

Hi Cerberus,

I am sure I am being quite dense here but I need to clarify what you mean by temp folder. At first I thought you meant Windows temp folder (C:\Windows\Temp\) so I ran CCleaner. Then it occurred to me that you meant a temp folder for Serviio specifically so I went looking and the only thing I found was the "tmp" folder here... C:\Program Files (x86)\Serviio\library\db\tmp and I found this folder to be empty. I don't suppose you could clarify the folder you mean here could you?

I appreciate both your support (and patience probably) :)

Re: Media Server Error: A network error has occurred. (00000

im guessing you are using the normal serviio console and not the WHS intergration thing?

and that you have latest version of java install (1.6 update 27)?

Yeah I used the standard Windows version from the downloads page which looks like this....
Windows: serviio-0.6.0.1-win-setup.exe [mirror] (18,267,542 bytes, MD5: baf79a6249b946c2882de7a2673b7dbd)

and yes my Java is as you say 1.6 update 27.

I decided to unistall Java and Serviio and start again. I installed Java first and then Serviio (re-booting inbetween each step). I'm still experiencing the issue but I've found that some .mkv's appear to work and some don't. I do now have a copy of my serviio log though. This bit I'm guessing is the OS bit...

ok cool so its no longer a network issue, that good our problem now relates to this in your log.

ok from reading back through old post this seems top relate to FFmpeg missing a lib that it requires to work, which to me seems very strange as you are on windows so ffmpeg should be the only bundled in the package.

@ZIP - can you take a look at this one please seems to be your area :)

Re: Media Server Error: A network error has occurred. (00000

there is the ffmpeg command used to start the transcoding somewhere further up in the log, above of what you posted. you'll have to execute that ffmpeg command and post the (error) message here.

Re: Media Server Error: A network error has occurred. (00000

NB:
renaming the folder on my HDD without a space does not make any difference, the file still does not play.

NB2:
Using PS3 media server [MENCODER] as a test, this file plays ok.... obv i don't want to use that tho lol

thx M

OK, it's caused by FFmpeg's bug. I will see if I can update FFmpeg with a patch for a future version(s) to get around this.

So, I am running v0.6.0.1 and am getting this error quite frequently when trying to play MKV files on my PS3 via the Serviio server. Here is the Serviio log:

  Code:
java.io.IOException: FFmpeg execution failed
   at org.serviio.delivery.resource.AbstractTranscodingDeliveryEngine.retrieveTranscodedResource(AbstractTranscodingDeliveryEngine.java:117)
   at org.serviio.delivery.resource.AbstractDeliveryEngine.deliver(AbstractDeliveryEngine.java:93)

   at org.serviio.upnp.webserver.ServiioHttpService.doService(ServiioHttpService.java:58)
   at org.apache.http.protocol.HttpService.handleRequest(HttpService.java:212)
   at org.serviio.upnp.webserver.WebServer$WorkerThread.run(WebServer.java:187)

   at org.serviio.upnp.webserver.WebServer$WorkerThread.run(WebServer.java:187)

So is there something, anything I can do to fix this? I tried renaming the folder to remove spaces to no avail.

Re: Media Server Error: A network error has occurred. (00000

I'm encountering the same issue. I use Serviio exclusively for online media & I can't even play THAT without encountering this error message

I've resorted to setting aside a tewmp folder SPECIFICALLY for Serviio instead of using the system default of C:\WINDOWS\TEMP which every other program under the sun uses in the hopes that will solve the problem. My question is how many of you have had better luck with this ??

Cheers :)
