Re: Sony SMP-N100 Media Player

Media info from vlc player
Stream 0
Type: Video
Codec: MPEG-4 Video (FMP4)
Resolution: 480x360
Frame rate: 29.970029

Stream 1
Type: Audio
Codec: MPEG Audio layer 1/2/3 (mpga)
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 32 kb/s

Stream 2
Type: Subtitle
Codec: Text subtitles with various tags (subt)
I've had this file for years. Just to be sure, I let the file play last night with vlc and it never hung up or glitched. I have even tried removing the subtitle file from the folder that contains the avi file.
The file is a 700Mb movie so it's not that easy to send to someone else for testing. Life will go on if I can not play this file. I am just wondering if I should be able to play this file. If this codec is not supported by the Sony box, can support be added into serviio to avoid future problems?

Update: I tried changing the file extension from .avi to .mp4 just to see if it made any difference when trying to play it from usb. It did not.

FMP4 codec, the default MPEG4 format used by tool mencoder. Audio is all fine, might be something to do with the codec making the box struggle. Try updating the FourCC to xvid or divx and see if it plays ? Can you get the mediainfo full output, see link in my signature for a guide on how to.

Re: Sony SMP-N100 Media Player

Did you try changing the FourCC to DIVX or XVID ?

No. I wasn't the one that encoded the file either.

Re: Sony SMP-N100 Media Player

You can use FourCC Changer (free download)
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/avi ... hanger.htm

Take a copy of the file, change the FourCC to that of a working divx or xvid that that you have, apply the settings then test the file to see if it now plays. This will help to work out if it is the FMP4 FourCC setting that is causing it not to play.

Re: Sony SMP-N100 Media Player

I downloaded FourCC Changer but it only had 4 codecs in it so I used div3. That got the file to at least try to play. Just audio and it would randomly restart, but that was improvement. I got so spoiled with vlc player that I never installed any codecs on this computer. So I installed Xvid, (Xvid-1.3.2-20110601.exe) but that still didn't allow me to use the xvid codec in the changer. I found Nic's mini fourcc changer which was installed with the xvid codec. That changer shows the xvid codec in the drop down list. I changed it to xvid and now it plays fine through the serviio. So it works, but what was the cause of the problem? Thanks for the help. :) Here's the new mediaInfo

Re: Sony SMP-N100 Media Player

The problem would appear to be that the FourCC was FMP4. FourCC might not has preset in the dropdowns but you can manually enter entries, anyway you resolved it :)
