At aloss with Serviio and Samsung

Hello gang.

Forgive me if this specific one has been posted; I don't know enough to know all the possible lingo to perform a proper search.

TV is Samsung pn50c540

Blu Ray is Samsung BDC 5500

Both wireless and Wired, the tv can see my PC

I have assigned subfolders; My S drive is my external. On there I keep everything such as tv shows, movies, football games, images, apps etc

So, i added Movies, TV Shows and Football games, all subfolders of the S drive, thus, S:\Movies, S:\TV Shows, S:\Football Games

Inside each are the folders of each item, so, for example, Start Trek is S:\Movies\Star Trek 2009

Here's the problem > i am only seeing the first tier of sub folder, so S:\Movies, S:\TV Shows, S:\Football Games

Is it possibly a Serviio limitation where it can only show so many sub folders ?

Or (more likely) am I missing a step somewhere ?

Make sure the user that runs Serviio server/service has got access to the shared folders. If you are on Windows, check that the user running the Windows service has got access. To run the service as a different user go to Services (from the Windows Control Panel → Administrative Tools or typing "Services.msc" in the Run command on Start menu), select Serviio, right-click -> Properties, Log On tab, enter user's details and restart the service.

To access a NAS device the exact same set of credentials must be created on the NAS device. The Windows credentials must be a local user and not a domain user. The user must have "Run As Service" rights. The remote path must be entered as a UNC path in the Serviio Console (e.g. \\server\folder)), mapped drive letters will not work since user running the Serviio service is not aware of your mapped drives.

Re: At aloss with Serviio and Samsung

Not sure what you mean there ?

System ?

As in Serviio ?

How would I go about that ? Do I still have to do anything in the services interface ?

Re: At aloss with Serviio and Samsung

1. go to my computer,

2. right click on the S drive

3. click properties

4. select security

5. check that SYSTEM has full access/permissions to the folder.

Re: At aloss with Serviio and Samsung

There's no "system"

There's an "Everyone"

it has allow checked all the way down the line until the option called "Special Permissions" which has no checks at all

Re: At aloss with Serviio and Samsung

there is the issue then, you need to give SYSTEM permissions to that drive, so that the serviio service can then work.

No dice.

There was no SYSTEM present. Added it in the below interfac. First picture is the before. Second pic is after I manually added "SYSTEM" I have not tried it having changed the owner to SYSTEM because I don;t want to get too far and possibly brick up my system. Is this on the right track ie can I properly save, reboot, and give it a whirl ?

Re: At aloss with Serviio and Samsung

Look at the serviio files on your computer and see what groups and users are Authorized to start and run it.
