Re: Chapter function

Hi
No, but you could generate them with a default image and add an option for the people who want them.

Re: Chapter function

yep, that would work. You can create a bitbucket ticket for a future version if you like.

Re: Chapter function

I would just use the movie image that is generated already.

Re: Chapter function

I'm very interested and I'd like to ask some questions on this issue.

- does "adding mta support" mean that mta files have to be created and added manually or they will be (optionally) created by Serviio?
- they will be phisically stored on the disk or created on the fly?
- they will be limited to the automatic creation of a certain number of chapters or the chapters would be customizable?
- what about files already containing chapters information and currently not using them?

I've been trying to have chapters recognized by my Samsung BD-C5500 but with no success up to now. My aim is not an alternative to skip forward, I can already use "Tools | Jump to" function, I'm looking for real chapter support to skip to different portions of my home made movies...

I made several trials adding chapters to .mp4 .m4v and expecially to .mkv. On the PC the chapters are very well recognized but I did not find any way to have them recognized serving the file with Serviio.
I don't know if I missed something and perhaps a way already exist and I was not able to find it. But if the way does not already exist, the best feature I can ask for is the capability to extract chapters info from mkv and serve it to Samsung playes ad a .mta generated on the fly.

Any suggestion is obviously appreciated
Ciao, Giuseppe

Re: Chapter function

my opinions on these are as follows:

- does "adding mta support" mean that mta files have to be created and added manually or they will be (optionally) created by Serviio? by serviio id hope
- they will be phisically stored on the disk or created on the fly? on the fly to save disk space
- they will be limited to the automatic creation of a certain number of chapters or the chapters would be customizable? fixed less chance of problems
- what about files already containing chapters information and currently not using them? if device supported them they would already be used

But if the device doesn't support them it would be nice if the .mta generated on the fly by Serviio reflects the content of the chapters saved in the .mkv!

not really would not gain you anything by using them over the serviio generated ones. but if we are going to have to create our own MTA files for each file then i agree.

Re: Chapter function

Most of what cerberus said is right. Not sure about number of chapters - I assume the TV only supports fixed number (5?) if I remember the UI correctly. Will start with a proportional chapter split and if it works we can add mkv chapter split in future.
