Online Source - my wish list

At Online Source:

- Source Name possibility to move UP/Down. ( this will help organize sources by priority and speed up display at Serviio start )
- Remove button moved down. ( I had to edit many of my links and by mistake I pressed Remove few time and lost some Source )
- No thumbnails option ( for speed up, fast only links )
- Import / Export. ( Back-up / Restore Library, useful if you use Servio on 2 computers or just to make back-up and keep it safe or to share your sources )

Re: Online Source - my wish list

Thank you.

Another one useful if you have 2 or more Serviio servers in LAN; now you have to exit&close console, and start another console for that IP ...
- IP/identification of server where console is connected on
- Possibility to Switch/Connect console to Serviio servers listed in Server Status ( need a profile to identify as Serviio server or IP inserted manual )

why would you want more than one imstance of serviio on your network ? only reason i can think of is for beta testing and in that case 99% of users would never use the function so it would be next to useless.

You could have the second computer access the harddrive on the old computer, that way you would only have one running instance of serviio.

I prefer not, because the file server it is online 24h / 7days, for storage & accessing files by any device from LAN ( mediaplayer, dreambox, tv, computers ) it is perfect.

Re: Online Source - my wish list

I have an old Athlon 64 from 2004 that I am running serviio on Mint linux on it and it runs 24/7 and I stream all my movies from the HD in it, and I stream my online feeds from it also. This way all the programs I have on the computer are available all the time, serviio, calbre, and all my shared folders.

Re: Online Source - my wish list

What do you think about my file server that now run also Serviio:
Compaq year ~199x with Intel Pentium 2 - 348Mhz 128Mb Ram, 70Gb HDD with 1.5Tb HDD on USB 2
XP Pro SP3 - with all unneeded services disabled ( ~37Mb Ram free with Serviio running ).

Any how if it is not important or to much time consumming for developers to program console to have the Switch to another server function - button, I can survive without problems, I made my .bat and from there I can select which of my server I connect, no problem.

I think that you should be fine, what I would do is turn on performance monitor and see what the CPU and memory loads are. It would probably be slower doing the initial indexing, but that is about all. You will probably only be limited if you are transcoding a few streams at the same time. Ie using 2-3 renderers at the same time.

If you do not mind can you post the results of the performance monitor if you use it, so we can use it as a reference point.
On my athlon 64 I rarely get above 1-2% load.

Re: Online Source - my wish list

Here is a link on how to use it.

http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=23757

I would only worry about processor and memory monitoring.

p.s.
On this old computer I have disabled transcoding by default because I think it it is to much for this old CPU and so little memory.

Re: Online Source - my wish list

i think the best way is to use Display Name, could use double forwardslash or a symbol so Serviio knows its a folder

for example
iPlayer\\Highlight Feeds
4OD\\New Girl
iPlayer\\Popular feeds
Sony Bravia 2010 52NX803 - Sony PS3 - Xbox 360
Serviio running on QNAP NAS 639 Pro - 1.6 Intel Dual Core - 2GB RAM and QNAP NAS 121 - 2Ghz ARM Marvell - 1GB RAM
Console using ServiiDroid for Android, ServiiMetro and ServiiWP for Windows Phone and WebUI for iOS
