Samsung TV not detected with Serviio

Hi
I downloaded Serviio and can start the Console, then I selected a folder of files to be shared.

Problem is that Serviio doesn't detect the TV, therefore I can not make the link between MacBook and TV.
What is strange is that I can actually detect Serviio server with my mobile SII through AllShare app.
I can then get access to the folder of files and launch a file and choose the TV as player.
But I finally get this message on the TV : "The selected file is not currently supported".

So... two problems
1/ how to make the direct link between Serviio and TV,
2/ How to play the files (.avi) that are not supported at the moment.

Thks for your help !

Make sure the TV is on the same subnet as the Mac.

Re: Samsung TV not detected with Serviio

Hi
I can finally make it run correctly and used it during several days to watch some movies.
It is great !

But now I am blocked when I start my laptop and launch Serviio console.
I have this message and Serviio does not open at all.
"can not connect to Serviio server, it does not seem to be running. Exiting..."

I tried to re start several times, still the same issue.

What should I do ?
Thks

When you start serviio console, serviio services should be started.
Check that after a reboot, serviio services restart automatically.

that address changes often, now has changed in 10.71.212.53, but i changed it in bound ip, now the tv has that address (10.71.212.55)

Re: Samsung TV not detected with Serviio

Can you fix the IP on your router? Ideally both, the PC and the TV.

The log is not in debug mode (there are no DEBUG statements)

Re: Samsung TV not detected with Serviio

Are you using a firewall/antivirus? Make sure the ports are open as described here: http://www.serviio.org/component/conten ... e?id=21#q1

Re: Samsung TV not detected with Serviio

Ive tried serviio and samsung allshare on my notebook on the same network and it works perfect, maybe the problem is some conflicts on the opened ports

Please excuse my ignorance, but I think the reason my TV and PC cannot communicate is something to do with them not being on the same subnet. I have a Samsung smart TV and a desktop running Serviio and they cannot see each other. However my laptop with Serviio and TV are connected. The desktop and TV are wired to the network and the laptop is wireless.

How do I configure my network so the desktop and TV are on the same subnet?

Thanks

Andy

Re: Samsung TV not detected with Serviio

they have to be on the same subnet, ie the first 3 numbers have to be the same for the multicast to work.

Re: Samsung TV not detected with Serviio

the subnet mask is 225.225.225.0 on both devices. Also I have tried it both with the firewall off and on
