trouble streaming (.ts file) to vizio tv

Hello, I am new to serviio, but really like what I have seen so far! Thanks for the great work! Since I am so new to this, I am still learning the interface and how the system works...so please let me know what you might need if it is missing.

I have been experimenting with serviio (on a vista 32bit machine) and a dlna capable Vizio "smart" tv (Model#E320i) as a client. The serviio shows up as a server in the media app on the TV. I have been able to play some files on the TV, but not others. I am trying the "DirecTV HD-DVR" renderer profile per this thread: http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8325. I have transcoding enabled.

I am not at home so I do not have the Device spy output yet for the TV, but can get that tonight if it would be useful.

I can also post logs if that is needed.

Here is the ffmpeg output and MediaInfo output of an example of something that does not play (and after it I have also included the same for something that does play):

try something like this:

  Code:
 <Profile id="viziotv" name="Vizio TV" extendsProfileId="1">

Re: trouble streaming (.ts file) to vizio tv

Thanks for the code zip! I will try it tonight.

I did try devicespy last night and the TV did not show up on the list. I also could not find it on dlna.org search, in fact there are no vizio devices listed there. I have found very little information anywhere (including directly on vizio's site) on what format and bitrates this TV can support...frustrating :?

Re: trouble streaming (.ts file) to vizio tv

Well the good news is the the file listed above that did not play, started playing with the above addition to the profile.xml. The not so good news is that after a few seconds it then stated stuttering, then froze. I looked at the server cpu usage and it was approaching/sometimes at 100 % with ffmpeg process using most of the resource. I am assuming the transcoding is bringing it to it's knees? The file I included above that did play previously, still plays but even then cpu usage hovers around 80%. My server is a core2 dual 1.86 Ghz. Is this a case of asking too much of my computer to handle the on the fly transcoding required to handle these high bitrate files?

Re: trouble streaming (.ts file) to vizio tv

Thanks for the reply zip! I was wondering about ac3, verses the mp2 in the previous code. I will give that a try tonight and post my results and the log.

By the way, I have already enabled the DEBUG log option, and it is getting pretty big. Is it best to just zip it and attach to the post?

Re: trouble streaming (.ts file) to vizio tv

Nice job zip...that did it :D

ffmpeg ran around 20% and no stuttering on tv.

In case you are still interested I can add the logs, though my first try to attach the zip fill said it was too big (1.4 meg). Let me know.

Thanks again!

Re: trouble streaming (.ts file) to vizio tv

Is the TV supposed to play H264? Eg. can you play an MKV file with the Bravia 2012 profile?

Re: trouble streaming (.ts file) to vizio tv

I grabbed a mkv h264 and i played using the "Vizio TV" profile. I assume this means it actually worked on my TV with the "generic" profile?

I also tried the Bravia 2012 and Bravia 2012 (US) profiles and neither could play the mkv (or the ts) file.
