Thanks patters for the quick update to the synology package.
Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
Done, and it works.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I'll have to check if with the Crashplan package for the Synology, that when running, the NAS also doesn't hibernate, if the issue is the same...
Continuing that off-topic...
I get this output from running only CrashPlan. I'll make the same change to that and see if it helps.

I've tried searching but I can't find anything about this, the other threads are more about logging:
http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?p=263106
Thing is, why on earth would it poll default.service.xml so regularly - that's the default config. The running config is stored in my.service.xml.

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
@patters: The -D parameter that works is specifically for the Java preferences framework, nothing to do with this xml file, which is probably specific to Crashplan app.

I got the same problem, but with the latest package from patters

Serviio Package 1.1.0-015
Java SE for Embedded 7 (1.7.0_10-013)

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
This is caused by Serviio checking if there are any new plugins. There is no way of disabling this at the moment.

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
This still seems to be the case - my Synology NAS never hibernates. I've got the library refreshing every few hours and online webresources doing the same (HAHASport, Coolsport, SkysportsPlus, Stopstream).
I've noticed that the online side of things, despite either having a "?refresh=xxx" parameter or refresh at console default time, online resources appear to be accessed every couple of minutes.
I'd really like my NAS to sleep when not being used.

Did you add the new system property to disable checking for new plugins?

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
I thought that was included in the Synology package itself? I haven't changed any parameters at all.
Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
It's not included, AFAIK. It's a personal preference of each user.

I gathered from patters posts of
That it was out of my control and had already been taken care of. Is this not the case?

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
Where can i change the syncintervall? I have a zyxel nsa 310 with serviio.
Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
I've renamed //volume1/public/serviio/plugins to //volume1/public/serviio/_plugins to see what effect it would have.
Since doing so, the Java process no-longer drives the CPU to almost 100% all day and actually sleeps, but the Synology still fails to hibernate after 10 minutes as set.

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
Login with putty on synology NAS
username: root
password: your admin password
change folder to "/volume1/@appstore/Serviio/bin/"
edit serviio.sh
add "-Dplugins.check=false" to line 57 (which begins with "JAVA_OPTS=") almost at the end, like this:
press esc to leave vi's text edit mode
type :w to save
type :q to exit
type exit to leave ssh session
restart serviio service in DSM's web interface
restart your nas, just to be sure
be happy

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
Hi,
I just add -Dplugins.check=false and my NAS DS212j is still not hibernating.. When I disable serrvio hibernation works. Any idea?
I have newest DSM and serrvio.

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
Would need a log like the ones above showing which file is accessed by the serviio process.

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
Hi all,
trying to figure out why my DS213j is not hibernating when serviio is running (when serviio is not started, everything works as expected).
Here is my setup:
DSM 4.3-3810
Serviio 1.3.1-0023
I have disabled every possible option from the console which can cause hdd activity.
Below are the JAVA_OPTS in the bin directory
./serviio-console.sh:JAVA_OPTS="-Dserviio.home=$SERVIIO_CONSOLE_HOME -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true"
./serviio-console.sh:"$JAVA" -Xms5M -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=5 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=10 $JAVA_OPTS -classpath "$SERVIIO_CONSOLE_CLASS_PATH" org.serviio.console.ServiioConsole "$@"
./serviio.sh:JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dderby.system.home=$SERVIIO_HOME/library -Dserviio.home=$SERVIIO_HOME -Dserviio.defaultTranscodeFolder=/volume1/@tmp -Dffmpeg.location=$SERVIIO_HOME/bin/ffmpeg -Dplugins.location=/volume1/public/serviio -Djava.util.prefs.syncInterval=86400 -Dplugins.check=false"
./serviio.sh:"$JAVA" -Xmx384m -Xms20M -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=10 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=20 $JAVA_OPTS -classpath "$SERVIIO_CLASS_PATH" org.serviio.MediaServer "$@"
I tried to add -Dplugins.check=false which can be seen above but this didn't help.
I enabled the hibernation debug tool and what I cans ee in the log is a records like these:

Any help from someone more experienced will be appreciated.
Looking at the log, does my problem have anything to do with the integrated media browser, because the rows with the /.htaccess appearing ONLY a seconds before/after the serviio log events.
If there is an option to disable the media browser, would like to try it.

trying to figure out why my DS213j is not hibernating when serviio is running (when serviio is not started, everything works as expected).
Here is my setup:
DSM 4.3-3810
Serviio 1.3.1-0023
I have disabled every possible option from the console which can cause hdd activity.
Below are the JAVA_OPTS in the bin directory
./serviio-console.sh:JAVA_OPTS="-Dserviio.home=$SERVIIO_CONSOLE_HOME -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true"
./serviio-console.sh:"$JAVA" -Xms5M -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=5 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=10 $JAVA_OPTS -classpath "$SERVIIO_CONSOLE_CLASS_PATH" org.serviio.console.ServiioConsole "$@"
./serviio.sh:JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dderby.system.home=$SERVIIO_HOME/library -Dserviio.home=$SERVIIO_HOME -Dserviio.defaultTranscodeFolder=/volume1/@tmp -Dffmpeg.location=$SERVIIO_HOME/bin/ffmpeg -Dplugins.location=/volume1/public/serviio -Djava.util.prefs.syncInterval=86400 -Dplugins.check=false"
./serviio.sh:"$JAVA" -Xmx384m -Xms20M -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=10 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=20 $JAVA_OPTS -classpath "$SERVIIO_CLASS_PATH" org.serviio.MediaServer "$@"
I tried to add -Dplugins.check=false which can be seen above but this didn't help.
I enabled the hibernation debug tool and what I cans ee in the log is a records like these:

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
the .htaccess file is not used by Serviio itself. It seems something is trying to access the Apache server running on the NAS though.

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
Could be a coincidence with the .htaccess log but do you have any idea what setting/featurecan cause these
Dec 8 18:26:27 DiskStation1 kernel: [10677.737572] [/volume1/@appstore/Serviio/lib/serviio.jar] opened by pid 7112 [u:(/volume1/@appstore/java7/jre/bi), comm:(java)]
to happen every 20 minutes ?
Asking because without serviio the system does hibernate successfully.
There is a possibility the system itself, when going to hibernation to cause the serviio process to access this file but I will check this by increasing the hibernation period and see how often the process described above happens then.

Re: [SOLVED] NAS not hibernating after upgrading to 1.0
Checked with different hibernation settings (30 min, 60 min) but the java process accessing serviio.jar every 20 minutes.
What I'm doing for now is to shutdown serviio when I don't use it so synology can hibernate.
I'm willing to cooperate with testings if someone has some ideas.
