Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

This sounds like a problem with the options passed to ffmpeg by Serviio, not something that can be changed by the profile. Won't be at a computer until tomorrow so cannot test it myself. You could turn on detailed logging and make a note of the ffmpeg command used.

@zip could you confirm whether artwork is intentionally missed out when transcoding / is an option missing / is this an ffmpeg bug.

Also for the year, what could cause that to be missing? Looking at my music via ServiiGo I've just seen that all of the years for my albums are missing (displays year they were added to the library). Not sure how I missed that....

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Tested a few videos (x264 mp4) on my HP Touchpad.

Video looks lower quality and video was sluggish and out of sync. Im thinking the internal player is not Hardware acceleration.
Same video runs smooth and synced with BSPlayer Pro.

Great start on having it built in.
Sony Bravia 2010 52NX803 - Sony PS3 - Xbox 360
Serviio running on QNAP NAS 639 Pro - 1.6 Intel Dual Core - 2GB RAM and QNAP NAS 121 - 2Ghz ARM Marvell - 1GB RAM
Console using ServiiDroid for Android, ServiiMetro and ServiiWP for Windows Phone and WebUI for iOS

Can you try Medium quality and also test seeking.

Also, what resolution are the original files?

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Quick question about ServiiGo guys;

Does ServiiGo push media from Serviio to a Television much like Airplayer does for iPhone?
I noticed in the App description you can "Playback videos in the external player of your choice (e.g. MX Player) ", is that where one would select their television set were it connected by wifi?

No it cannot. I'm looking into it for the future (no eta just yet) , but only when the TV is on the same network as the Server.

Can you run
  Code:
ffmpeg -i /Music/Coldplay/Mylo Xyloto/03 Paradise.flac -y -b:a 320k -ac 2 -vn -f mp3 /tmp/Serviio/tmp1.stf

vs

  Code:
ffmpeg -i /Music/Coldplay/Mylo Xyloto/03 Paradise.flac -y -b:a 320k -ac 2 -f mp3 /tmp/Serviio/tmp2.stf

The -vn option specifically disables the video stream from being copied over, which is why there is no artwork.

That's unfortunate, I look forward to the implementation of that feature in the future (although I do hope you will consider tackling pushing to TVs on other networks as well).
Are there currently any apps for Android devices that CAN push to TVs?

The problem with across networks is it means the app has to consume the content and send it out. That will quickly drain the phones battery. On the same network, the app can simply setup a link between the tv and server and then leave them to transfer content directly.

Yes, lots of pure DLNA apps can do this, e.g. BubleUPnP, although make sure you assign the profile of your TV to your phone.

Yes but if one were plugged in it wouldn't be an issue (you could issue a warning message for those who attempt it), plus then you'd have the awesome ability to push your content to any (wifi)tv anywhere.

What do you mean by pure DLNA? Sorry, I'm a bit new to DLNA. Does pure DLNA mean you can't use the Serviio server?

It is certainly something I would like to add, but to actually get it to work reliably will be a lot of work, so it the first step would be same network only.

Sorry, I ment DLNA is a standard for same network media sharing, its what Serviio does best, and it is what is built into most TV's Blu-ray players in some form or another. Where as ServiiGo is different in that it doesn't use DLNA and uses a different means of talking to Serviio that works outside of your netowrk as well as in it. All I ment was to try a DLNA app that is designed specifically for home network streaming and you should be able to push content from Serviio to your TV.

Ah ok, I wasn't aware that ServiiGo didn't use DLNA. I shall check out BubleUPnP and any other suggestions you might have for DLNA apps, though somehow I doubt any of them will look as good as ServiiGo, it's a fine app you're developing here. I could see myself using ServiiGo for tablet viewing and another app for pushing for the time being.

Missing artwork is going to require a change to Serviio and will need a bit of testing so will not be in for 1.2.1 but instead 1.3 (https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/i ... ding-audio). For now, it would help if you could run the commands I listed above (with and without -vn), and then post ffmpeg -i <path_to_file> for the two generated files to confirm that artwork is then copied over correctly during the transcoding process.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Will,

After doing some testing and googling yesterday I came to the same conclusion--ffmpeg just does not seem to be transferring the album art from flac(removing the vn made no difference). Decided to try taking a different approach--I'm using mp3fs in linux to present my flac repository to Serviio as mp3's. This lets me use lame instead of ffmpeg for the transcoding, and I get 320k quality 2 mp3's with perfectly transferred tags for Serviio to then stream to me.

But the album art in ServiiGo isn't working. As you can see below, Serviio is indeed sending me the native file:

  Code:
2013-03-17 01:02:49,587 DEBUG [CDSRetrieveMediaServerResource] GET http://xxxxxxxxxxxx.xxxxxx.xxx/cds/resource/5131/COVER_IMAGE,serviigo?authToken=3faedaafa0bd4703a20eef01badfd6f4 HTTP/1.1

I ran the copy sent to my phone through mp3tag, and my album art, all beautiful 404k of it, is indeed in the track I receieved. In fact, the original mp3 in my mp3fs directory and the item I received on my phone are bitwise exactly the same, all 10074151 bytes.

However, although I saw the thumbnail in the player flash when the blue line completed the download, still no high-res, it just put the thumbnail back up! No high-res even after two or three plays and a reboot.

Any ideas or things for me to check in this case?

After doing some testing and googling yesterday I came to the same conclusion--ffmpeg just does not seem to be transferring the album art from flac(removing the vn made no difference). Decided to try taking a different approach--I'm using mp3fs in linux to present my flac repository to Serviio as mp3's. This lets me use lame instead of ffmpeg for the transcoding, and I get 320k quality 2 mp3's with perfectly transferred tags for Serviio to then stream to me.

But the album art in ServiiGo isn't working. As you can see below, Serviio is indeed sending me the native file:

Can you PM me a link to the mp3 on dropbox or email the mp3 to me at the address on Google Play.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

After some testing I've found that Android does not support reading ID3 v2.4 tags (niether does Windows), so use ID3 v2.3 tags.

Access Group Restrictions

Apologies if I shouldn't be posting in this thread or if this has been already answered somewhere else. I have dome some searching and not found the answer.
I've bought serviio pro and a paid licence for serviigo*. I think the two together are a great way of showing content on android devices. But...

I want to restrict access on my daughters tablet to one of the shares. I've put that tablet in the Limited access group, and configured the shared folders so that only the one I want her to see is ticked with Limited access. According to the documentation that should do it...
I've restarted the services, but that device can still see all the content including the files I don't want her to see. Even removing the "Device allowed" tick does not restrict playback in any way.
Is this due to the way Serviigo interacts with Serviio, or am I missing a step?

* - just realised am not using a paid version of Serviigo on this tablet / account yet - would that make a difference?

Thanks for help,

Jon.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Hi, at the moment this only works when using traditional DLNA clients such as TVs, Serviio does not have the ability to identify remote clients (ServiiGo or MediaBrowser) and until it is added to Serviio there isn't anything I can do for ServiiGo.
@zip, cannot check bitbucket atm, is this scheduled for anytime soon?
