avi and mkv videos in Sony KDL-46HX820 (BRAVIA)

Hello,

I am new to Serviio. Please help me to get things right! Appreciate your time and help.

Version: 1.2.1

I have installed Serviio in 2 desk-top. Both Windows 7. For one PC, Serviio icon can be seen on the TV. The TV cannot see avi files. mkv files are OK but there are no sound for these.

On the other PC, copmuter name appears on the TV but without Serviio icon. Therefore, no files can be streamed from this PC.

Could you please give me step-by-step procedure to fix these issues?

Thank you again and all the best,
Anousheh

Have you got transcoding enabled?

The audio issue is a known issue. I've posted a fix before but not on desktop so can't dig it out...you'll find it on here, look for no aac audio.

My Sony BDP-BX57 will also not display AVI Files. I haven't tried the MKV yet. It used to play AVI, but since I updated Serviio to 1.2.1 I have had this problem. I noticed that the profile names have changed on my device in the console. I guess I'll try using a generic when I get home tomorrow and see if that fixes it. I'll let you know how it goes.

This was the profile fix for 2011 which worked for me. Try this, change to 2011 (not US) then see if you get audio on your mkv's. If yes then the same change can be applied to USA 2011 profile to get audio.

First, on serviio console do you try to change manually the profile :
1- Sony Bravia TV (2011) - US => Not work
2- Sony Bravia TV (2011) => ?
3- Sony Bravia TV (2012) => ?
4 - etc

Re: avi and mkv videos in Sony KDL-46HX820 (BRAVIA)

Something has changed in the profiles. On my PC running Serviio 1.1 it will play avi files. On my Main PC with Serviio 1.2.1, My Sony BluRay player will not display AVI files. I Changed the profiles and found that the Sony Bravia TV (2009) allows my BluRay Player to play all files, but none of the ones that are intended for my BluRay work anymore. But at least I found a temp/patch fix.

Re: avi and mkv videos in Sony KDL-46HX820 (BRAVIA)

anousheh, on Windows 7 "profiles.xml" file is located in "C:\Program Files\Serviio\config"

Take a backup copy of your existing file. Copy the one from my posting above and replace the file in the folder "C:\Program Files\Serviio\config". Restart the PC, for your TV select "Sony 2011", play a mkv and see if you get sound now ?

Thats forcing all your files to be transcoded to mpeg2, creating a lot of work for the PC but at least they work.

Hello NX3,

Thank you. I did what you suggested. Now I have sound. Thank you so much.

Could you please tell me:
1- how to get avi files? No avi files there!
2- My other computer with Serviio installed cannot be seen by the TV. (It was OK before)!

Thank you for your time and help.

Re: avi and mkv videos in Sony KDL-46HX820 (BRAVIA)

Set your profile to Sony2009 and see if the AVI are listed and play ? If not then as per my foot get mediainfo and get the details of what codec your AVI's are using.

Is your 2nd PC streaming to the same tv ? It stopped working without you making any changes ? Have you rebooted the PC ? Is this all wired or over wifi ? Have you check the network connections ?

Weird 2nd pc not working properly with Serviio. I'd uninstall it, reboot then install again....

Do you have fixed ip addresses on the PCs?

Do you try with "Sony BDP-Sx70/SMP-N100 (2010) - US" or "Sony BDP-Sx80/SMP-N200 (2011)" profiles ?
