I'm back...
have Java 6 and 7. Is having Java 7 a problem in addition to 6?
I think in this case it would be better to remove all Java using the Java removal tool (from
http://www.java.com/en/download/uninstallapplet.jsp) and then reinstall the latest.
deleted all the firewall rules
Did you confirm the rules were re-established after re-install. Did you instal version 1.2.1. or 1.2?
I also checked the TV settings
Did you set the TV's to acquire IP addresses from the DHCP (often called "Automatic");
I leave the TV going without playing anything, after 30 mins or so it does disappear regardless if I have watched anything.
Did you confirm this?
Or something in the system settings that was still active when i started the PC without the start up apps.
The next level after starting without startup apps is to do disable all startup items in in msconfig as you did previously
and then go to the Services tab. Important - hide all Microsoft services - and then disable everything else other than the Serviio service, and restart.
As long as I understood it right?
The problem you are having is due to Serviio's adverts not getting through to the TV. The first xx adverts
DO get through and you see the Serviio icon. After a while however, subsequent advertisements do not get through for some reason, so the advertisement is never refreshed - the TV disconnects from Serviio 30 minutes after
it received its last good advertisement message (even though Serviio has been sending them every 3-4 minutes).
it DOES NOT play from PC1 to TV1/2
It plays from PC2 (test PC) to TV1
I'm confused - previously I thought it was:
- PC1 did not play on TV1, but TV2 was OK; and
- Test PC played to both TV's
When did this change? The fact that the test PC worked fine was our biggest hint that it was related to PC1 rather than to the network, router, etc...
I don't think I ever asked - do you bind your WIC address or leave it as automatic (Serviio Console, Status tab). Try the the way around (let me know if you have multiple WICs appear in this list).
Finally, there is a "last resort" work around I thought of. You could set the advertising duration to 25 hours (90000), and if needed run a scheduled task to restart the Serviio service every 24 hours - this task will safeguard if you leave your PC running greater than 24 hours. An alternative is to downgrade to Serviio 1.1 which has helped some users. Both options though are sort of admitting defeat

but may be the only avenue until some future discovery finds the root cause.
