The log says:

2013-07-22 09:36:59,781 INFO [MediaServer] Serviio DLNA media streaming server v 1.2.1 (rev. a2aa56064460+)

and the console's screenshot I posted just a few postings further up says the same.

Re: SONY KDL-42W655A does not find Serviio

I took "New log files (with DEBUG on)" at face value, they were old hence the start on Serviio 1.1 and I saw the screenshot as well but it didn't tie up with the logs.....Anyway....

Reading the log file the Sony tv is found and identified many times as indicated previously and confirmed by your screenshot of the console. It looks like the connection is being closed by the tv so its receiving something it doesn't like, bad data or packet.

For total clarity, you have a PC running Serviio that is wired directly to your router and your tv is wired to the same router? Or ..... ?

Re: SONY KDL-42W655A does not find Serviio

Setup is: PC (Serviio) <> Switch <> Airport Express (Access Point) <> Bravia. There is a router elsewhere on the network but it's not envolved here.

In this setup the Bravia lists DVBViewer (running on the same PC as Serviio), BubbleUPnP Server (on a Nexus 7 connected to another access point) and Arkuda DMS Server (on an iPod connected to the same access point as the Bravia) and renders their files.

I tried another access point and I ran a very long cable to the Sony. The results are identical.

Re: SONY KDL-42W655A does not find Serviio

I appreciate it works for everything else and as you can see in the log serviio and the tv are talking but quickly disconnect.

If you google serviio and Airport express or DLNA and airport express you'll find quite a few people with similar problems.

Have you update your AE to the latest firmware ?
Is it possible you can run the tv and pc off a non-apple router ? If yes post result and make model of router / access point.

When everything else works as expected (several servers, several renderers, several remotes) no matter how devices are connected or which way packets go and only Serviio has a problem with the Sony (or vice versa) then why should one consider the Airport Express to be a problem?

Should be a problem between Sony-Airport Express interface...not serviio himself.

Re: SONY KDL-42W655A does not find Serviio

Something is causing the Sony to disconnect from serviio as per the log files. Others have had problems with an AE, its unfortunate but to resolve the problem you'll need to do some investigating to get it resolved. Its more work than most problems post as everything else work so limits the fault finding....

If you Google your problem AE comes quiet often as the problem. It might not be but its worth investigating so you can get a solution.

If you google 'Airport Express' and 'Witchcraft' you get 500k+ results. Anyway:

Although I'd done it before (and mentioned that twice) - just to be on the very, very safe side: I, again, unplugged the AE, burried it in the woods (that's new) and connected the Bravia to an AVM Fritz!Box 6360. During that process I gave the Bravia a new IP, cleared Serviio's renderer list and restarted the PC Serviio's running at. And guess what: it didn't change a thing.

@Illico: If you analyse DrogoNevets' post you'll see that he only describes a seemingly similar problem where - by coincidence - an Airport Express is envolved. His setup was working. Then he switched Access Points in a DHCP environment and that, maybe, caused the Sony to lose Serviio. Then he took a bunch of actions and finally got it working again still using the Airport Express. One can't say which of his actions 'solved' the problem. The only thing this tells us is that a setup Serviio <> Sony Bravia (2011) does work - even if there's an Airport Express inbetween.

Re: SONY KDL-42W655A does not find Serviio

If you done this action twice already from your replies its not been very clear hence we are going over old ground. The way to solve problems like this is by a process of elimination and we trying to help you.

So the problem still stands the Sony disconnects from serviio. I have nothing else to suggest. It would be good if another Sony 2013 owner could test with serviio to see it they get the disconnect msg in the log files.

Re: SONY KDL-42W655A does not find Serviio

Hello,

I have just bought & setup Sony KDL-42W655A and I have an identical problem: Sony doesn't see Serviio, but Serviio can see Sony correctly.

The difference was - when I set it up yesterday I managed to see a few movies correctly, but when I turn the TV on today, no Serviio connection was available. When I went to history of connections and tried to force re-connecting with Serviio, it showed "server error".

I'm a newbie at this thing, so I'd really appreciate your step-by-step help.

Re: SONY KDL-42W655A does not find Serviio

Forget about Sony KDL-XXW65X and Serviio for the time being. It just doesn't work because Serviio seems to have a bug.

The only way to make Serviio accessible from the Sony - if you have to - is using BubbleUPnP Server as a proxy server between Serviio and the Sony.

Alternatively you can use a DNLA-remote app. Although the Sony does not 'see' Serviio it can render Serviio's files when told so by a remote. Arkuda DMR (ArkMC) works fine on iOS and BubbleUPnP(*) on Android. Using those is much more comfortable anyway because the 'Sony way' of navigation is rather cumbersome and unnecessaryly restrictive.

And - by the way - any other DLNA server I tested worked out of the box.

(*) they produce a proxy server software and a DLNA-remote - two separate things

Do you try with latest Serviio 1.3 version ?
