Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

Greetings,

I have the same issue after updating to the latest Java update. Samsung D series TV and movie plays for about 20 minutes before disconnecting. I have to restart the TV to get it to work again. Used to work flawlessly. Running Java 1.6.0_51 according to the console. I will try anything at this point :) Thank you in advance for any help.

Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

Sorry, forgot to ask this question. I have gone through and deleted prefs, cache, and application support files left over from an old VMware Fusion install thinking this would get rid of those adapters listed in Serviio, however they still show up. Is there anywhere within the application contents to change the settings so that Serviio does not see them? I assume this is why I keep getting the "Could not advertise the device..." that is constantly being posted to the log. The Nic config I am using(native) works fine.

Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

Likewise...

Serviio works for a while and then can't be seen by the DLNA clients. I haven't had it stop midway through playing content yet but eventually it "disappears" with the Could not advertise the device on any available NIC, will try again log message.

I too updated to the latest Java verson, Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_51-b11-457-11M4509).

My solution is to quit Serviio and start it again. Not good but it's the only thing that works.

Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

We're having the same problem after updating the Mac Mini server. I get about 20 minutes into a video when I get a device disconnect on all of our Samsung TVs. Only way to get Serviio to show as a source again is to power cycle the TV. Serviio has worked flawlessly on my network for about a year prior to this update.

Have this in my log file since the update ..

Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

I am having this problem also? Anyone got any solution? Was there a beta version of 1.3 which solves this or I am going to have to try another DLNA server for a few weeks?

Thanks

Yes same for me. Upgrade to os 10.8.4. Appears on my WD TV box and plays movie for about 3/4 minutes then disappears. I love Serviio. Its been faultless over the last year of use. Hope you guys can this fixed! don't want to change.

After latest Java update on Mac - temporary solution

Temporary solution - downgrade to Java version 1.6.0_45

*******************
As I found it here:
http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/ ... ent_156222
************************************************************************************************

In Terminal, copy and paste these commands...

Check your Java 10.6 version:
/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.6 -exec java -version
(the bad one is build 1.6.0_51-b11-457-10M4509)

Remove enough of the new Java version to allow re-installation of Java 1.6.0_45:
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework

Find which package is installed on your machine:
pkgutil --pkgs=.*Java.*

Substitute the appropriate package version into the 'forget' command:
sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.JavaForMacOSX107

For OSX 10.7 & 10.8 download Java Update 2013-003 from some file sharing server like this:
http://mac.filehorse.com/download-java-for-mac/3485/

Test SHA1 checksum:
openssl sha1 ~/Downloads/JavaForOSX2013-003.dmg

Result should be:
SHA1(/Users/YourName/Downloads/JavaForOSX2013-003.dmg)= 3393ff8642b6e29cacaf10fbb04f76e657cc313a

Open image, install JavaForOSX.pkg...

Check your Java 10.6 version again:
/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.6 -exec java -version

*******************
My sw_vers
ProductName: Mac OS X
ProductVersion: 10.7.5
BuildVersion: 11G63

Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

I just updated Serviio and now the new version won't let me choose anything with .mp4 extension in my "movies" file... Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

@CrumbGuy - please start a new topic. This seems unrelated to the Java problems experienced by others on this topic.

When doing so let us know what version you upgraded to/from, what renderer profile you are using and any mods you may have made, and what TV/device you are using. Test whether the files appear in the "folders" area and advise. Lastly, also provide MediaInfo details for one of the offending files.

Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

So is serviio just broken now on current OSX? I replaced my imac an on the new one it starts and players find it at first but after a short time even though it seems to still be running the players don't connect or get errors if they were previously connected.

Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

I see that I am not alone with Serviio troubles. Same story - Serviio had been working great, better than the competition. After a hiatus, I tried to connect and my Sony BluRay won't connect, despite Serviio recognizing the player and saying the server is running. Running 10.8.4, Java 7.25 (build 1.7.0_25-b15).

Looking forward to a solution.

Thanks,

Allan

Can you write us what have you tested already? What is you OSX version, what is your Java 6 version? Do you see your TV in Serviio-Console application (Status tab)?

Start with Terminal (find it via spotlight) and use these commands:
/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.6 -exec java -version
sw_vers

If your Java 6 build is 1.6.0_51, did you downgraded Java as it's writen in previous post?

Re: [In progress] Serviio breaks after latest Java update on

Hi, thanks for the help...

NO I don't see any media players at all :( my Twonky NAS sees them all though, as does some other rubbish media apps.... nothing cuts it like serviio.

java version "1.6.0_51"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_51-b11-456-11M4508)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.51-b01-456, mixed mode)
Lukes-MacBook-Pro:~ Home$ sw_vers

OSX 10.8.4

I will try to roll back Java and come back to you.... I just find it odd I cant even see the media players and my Windows 7 still can.

See my post for troubleshooting: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11537

Do you think my issue is related?

Cheers
Luke

So it seems like some other issue. I would try to diagnose if TV is reachable.
You can see on snapshots from my Mac, that I can ping Samsung TV and get response, so I guess your Sharp should be also pingable...
