This issue appears to be related to the version of the Samsung environment being used. I own several samsung smart TV's and have two on my desktop that I use as PC monitors. One of them is a smart tv which I purchased 3 years ago, the other is an ES8000 which I purchased the other day and is this years model. I created several playlists with varying sort orders and placed them where they could be read in Serviio. On the older model the lists appear the order they were placed in the m3u/ playlist file e.g. by date, chapter number etc. In the newer model, though, they appear in alphabetic order. Since all my internal systems are connected to the network I checked the other sets connected through serviio and the older systems show the correct sort order while the more recent Samsung, like the one on my desktop, displays the information alphabetically. I would conclude Samsung changed its upnp to sort these lists in alphabetic order for their newer smart TV's. The m3u file is merely a directory dump of file names and locations. I am not sure as to why Samsung has made this specific change to their display of a playlist, but they have, and are disregarding certain information in the playlist file and re-sorting that information alphabetically.
