Atleast its not to do with the streams. This puts me back to believing its whatever is happening after sopcast. Something must of changed or is doing something different. As you say, very strange indeed.

Any more input on this master Zip :)

Re: TV/stream keeps dropping out

I'm trying to test these as well. What/where are BZ and YES streams? They are not on SOPCAST list.

Re: TV/stream keeps dropping out

They are listed on here: http://www.wiziwig.tv/competition.php?p ... e=football
Clicking on the match you want then displays a list of streams and you then click on "play now" for the chosen stream and it opens Sopcast or you can cut n' paste the url.

Cheers

BZ and YES are mostly streaming on EPL match days.

BZ is offline now untill the next premier league game at the weekend. His sop link is always the same (sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/132927)

As for YES that was the first time i used them so i never saved it.

Chelsea are playing tomorrow being wednesday so ill give you some links if you would like to test them.

Would be nice for someone with a TV other than samsung to try, proves its not the tv then.

I could try my media streaming device which I used before the Samsung telly. Will check it and let you know.
Testing it right now with this stream: sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/126767

Result:
Via FANTEC TV-FHDS: 70 minutes without interruption. I switched to Samsung now.

Moment of truth :p

If the Samsung crashes out you will need to try the BZ stream + streams that never worked out on your media player

For anyone that has more knowledge than me, heres the info on the stream henri is playing

To be honest: since I'm only interested in the BZ stream, I will definitely try it on Saturday during the EPL broadcast :D If that old little device plays the stream without interruption, we can screw Samsung

Did the TV crash out last night after your media player played the stream fine?

Unfortunately I had to stop it after 10 minutes.. but will try again today for a longer period (in case that there is a useable stream available)

Update:
I'm currently testing the same stream as yesterday on the Samsung: disconnect after 13 minutes.
Currently playing via Media Streaming device since 32 minutes and counting...

Re: TV/stream keeps dropping out

Looking more like the TV then, something to do with the transcoding maybe.

@JHB50 if you want to test the YES stream that will be live in 30min or so

Streaming device was on for 90 minutes. The real test will follow once BZ is streaming again :D

The question would be why I was able to watch the BZ stream showing a French league match a few days ago... :?:

I really think the best will be to wait until the weekend for the BZ stream. Should give us an answer, hopefully :D

Re: TV/stream keeps dropping out

I have followed these posts with interest, since I just started to use SOPCAST.

I have not yet gotten as far as testing your problem, but I have encountered 2 others which I will advise you of here, and make some suggestions regarding your timeouts.

The SOPCAST streams use various codecs. Seems the ones you are using use wmv, but my Eurosport ones use avc/mp2 in an mpegts wrapper. Turns out there is an ffmpeg bug if you copy the avc when you transcode a ts stream to avc/ac3 mpegts, as the Samsung profile does, and ffmpeg fails. My fix is to also transacode the AVC video to mpeg2video.

The second bug is the playback of http streams with Mediaplayer which includes the Sopcast http://127.0.0.1:8902 streams. The first playback of the stream works, but on the second playback serviio trys to use "the previously transcoded stream" which of course does not exist because these are livestreams. Once the stream is played once mediabrowser keeps failing, even if the SOPCAST source is changed. The workaround is to use http://localhost:8902 which seems to start a new transcode each time. This problem is only with Mediaplayer and not with transcoding to the TV.

As to your timeout problem, it may be tied to the fact that Serviio caches the attributes of a stream the first time it is added in the console, and those values are used to transcode the stream from then on. Once set there is no way to change those values other than by deleting the Cache folder.
This creates a potential problem because Sopcast streams have different attributes. Some are avc/mp2.ts, others are wmv2/wma2.asf, etc but Serviio will transcode them per the transcoding rules in the profile for the stream that was active the first time the SOPCAST stream was added http://localhost:8902 to the console. You will need to examine the ffmpeg transcoding statement in your debug log to see what rule is being used for your streams, and ffmpeg -i http://localhost:8902 to determine the attributes of the streams you are playing back, and see if that is a problem.

I have also found that interruptions of the live SOPCAST streams, particularly wmv type, will cause the TV to drop the playback. What you could do is setup http://localhost:8902 numerous times in a "LiveFeed" folder and use it for playback, so if the feed drops out it will immediately restart because it will go to the next item. 25 items will handle 25 drops before you need to start the menu item again.

Hope that helps.

Re: TV/stream keeps dropping out

Thanks for the reply jhb50 although it dosen't prove why its not working now when we never had to do these things, it use to work perfectly fine with all streams.

I haven't tried your first suggestion as i always fail when editing the profile.

As to your timeout problem, it may be tied to the fact that Serviio caches the attributes of a stream the first time it is added in the console, and those values are used to transcode the stream from then on. Once set there is no way to change those values other than by deleting the Cache folder.

This cant be the case as i have just built a new server today with a new formatted HDD/ install and the stream i like to use has just been put in first to test and still disconnects even while using localhost as URL.

You will need to examine the ffmpeg transcoding statement in your debug log to see what rule is being used for your streams, and ffmpeg -i http://localhost:8902 to determine the attributes of the streams you are playing back, and see if that is a problem.
