Requested Info is below. I should also mention they are both visible and both play fine on my Samsung C series TV too, not just the DirecTV DVRs. It just weird that they don't even show up on the Sony. Another oddity is I recall at some point I could see avi's, but now I can't. I have completely reinstalled serviio from scratch and still nothing. Could this be an issue with ffmpeg? That's the only other thing I feel might have changed between now and when I last recall it working.

Getting a bit farther here. Check out the results for protocol info. I dont see 'avi' anywhere in there. I do have auto firmware updates enabled for the TV. I wonder if it updated to a firmware that dropped AVI support. Any advice?

That will have to be your work around as for some strange reason your set doesn't support native AVI playback over DLNA.

So if I'm reading the profile correctly, the only difference in the 2010 and 2011 profiles is that for 2010, the follow formats are transconded?

Hi there,

I had experienced a jerky playback back in 0.5.x, where at the beginning of quite a lot of my files (mkv/avc/aac) frames kept jumping back and forth, to pick up smooth playback after about 10 seconds. I was very pleased to see that this nasty effect was gone in 0.6, but from 0.6.2 I had to revert back to 0.6 as soon as I found that the very same files played jerky again with 0.6.2.

Now I gave 0.6.2 another try the other day and think those online streaming features are extremely sexy. Brilliant work, guys!

If it weren't for those jumpy frames when playing back my files... Has anyone with a 2011 Bravia experienced those playback probs? I'd very much like to stick with 0.6.2 this time and HAVE to get around this.

(I can provide a short sample through Dropbox if someone is willing to throw it against his Bravia.)

I am mot having any jerkisness. Maybe the first 1-2 seconds for a transcoded file, but thats it and doesnt bother me at all.

its a low AVC-H264 video bitrate around 1Mbps with 5Mbps peek, but video looks good.

I have a 46HX729, and I can't browse AVI files either. But, I added AVI to the section:

From the beginning of playback (mkv/avc/aac) frames keep jumping back and forth, to pick up smooth playback after about 10 seconds, while sound plays fine right away. This nasty effect, introduced to me with Serviio 0.5, had gone in Serviio 0.6, but from 0.6.2 it's back. There is no other ffmpeg process, and the effect happens each and every time I play back a file of the same (mkv/avc/aac) kind.

I recently found out that (mkv/avc-720p/ac3) is jerky, too. I think it's almost safe to claim that all remuxed videos (with or without transcoded audio) are jerky, while natively played (ts/mpeg2/mp2 from SD DVB) as well as fully transcoded (avi) videos play fine.

From your results I think there may be differences of some kind between 2010 Bravias (as Illico's) and 2011 Bravis (as koan's and mine). What doesn't matter IMHO is whether you use a 2010 or 2011 profile for a 2011 TV, as the difference in profiles just concerns playback of avis.

Sony Bravia 2011 models are supposed to support following format, and with current official profile, all are transcoded:

Ok, I have tested. Here are the results:

1) ASF file was not listed for selection for playback.
2) asf_with_chapters.wmv - plays
3) quicktime.wmv , TV reports: "File can not be played"
4) wmv2_new_vlc-issue1637.wmv - plays but all black screen and audio pops
5) All 3 .mov play fine

And ofcourse all AVIs are not shown just like the old profile. This still needs fixing too.

I was trying out Plex and noticed they use the Serviio Sony profiles, although on one of my Sony 2011 the profile doesn't work which is annoying.

I got a dump of the latest Intel Spy info from the latest firmware just to see if anything new. I can see ASF, WMV and WMA now listed, not that I use these file formats so not worried.
